I have a problem right now that no mater how prety i paint minis face it turns chaos and mess after i put my varnish on it, cause all tones and details go blury and unreadable.
I think problem with varnish.
So question is what you use? I need a varnish that make things mat but don't masking features.

I had good experiences with AK interaktiv ultra matte varnish. So far it never blurred details on my minis. I have only painted it on though and used it inside, so low humidity, 25°C. I have found some varnishes react a bit badly when used in a humid environment or when it is too cold or too hot.

If you are getting "cloudy" finish with your varnish, you could try applying a thin coat of gloss varnish first, then apply a thin matt varnish on the gloss coat to remove the glossyness.

FWIW My go-to varnishes are Mr Super Clear semigloss and AK Interactive Ultra Matte

If you're getting frosting and blurriness with your matte varnish, odds are the humidity was too high when you sprayed it.

However, the mini can be saved. Get some brush-on gloss and paint a thin layer over the frosted areas. That should cause the varnish to clear back up. Then you can spray the matte varnish again on a day with less humidity.

Brush-on varnishes and lacquers are also an option, and are far less sensitive to humidity.

I use brush-on varnish. It's maybe bad varnish I think. It's ok on armour and cloth but on face it looks like it's covered with thick layer of fat. All details gone blurry. Gonna order ak ultra matt. And se how it's going

A&K Ultra Matte is a great product. When applied with a brush, just be careful not to overdo it. The varnish has just a little bit of white pigment on it, so pooling will be visible when it dries. Thin coats, even thinned with a bit of water. For skin and dark shadows particularly one might want to add just a little bit of satin into the mix to prevent the finish from looking a bit "dusty".

Yep. Frosting. It happens to all of us occasionally. And now you know how to fix it.
