son who plays orks saw a video of largest ork army in the world and was going on about the models and in particular the gargants, he also likes to get handmade presents for xmas birthdays etc, so decided to try and make one on a budget from bits box, card plasticard household items, old toys and anything orky i can get away with, decided to do blog here so he can see what went into it when done,
after a couple days i have the basic shape done, bit blocky i know but will disappear under the details i intend to put on, ready for the the plates to go on and then the details like handmade welds, piping, nuts, bolts rivets, engine etc will also have a large chainsaw and cannon

This is already amazing! You went with the bolder, legged variant of an Ork gargant when you could have easily gone for the "skirted" one !
The details on the leg looks promising for the rest of the build. Keep up the amazing work, your kid is lucky to have such an amazing and talented parent!

Hi!
Your Gargant project is looking great so far.
I’ll definitely keep following your progress with interest.
I’m also finishing my own Gargant, which I’ve been building mostly from “not-so-noble” materials, so it’s very inspiring to see how others approach the same idea.
Looking forward to the next updates! WAAAGH!

The build is coming together really well. Your Gargant is looking fantastic so far! Really impressive work!
Just a small tip before you start painting: you’re using a lot of cardboard, it’s a good idea to seal it first with Mod Podge or plain white glue (PVA), thinned with just a tiny bit of water. It helps strengthen the surface and stops the paint from soaking in or warping the card.
Can’t wait to see how the paint job turns out!

I just realized that Ork Gargants don't have 10th Edition rules. They don't have 9th Edition rules either. What a shame.
Anyway, good homemade job.

Your finished Gargant is absolutely top-tier work!
Now that I’ve seen it complete, I can say without hesitation: any Mek who looks at it will have a moment of silence and think, “Zog it… why didn’t I build something like that?” .
It’s the kind of build that makes even experienced Meks blush under the green skin!
The shapes, the plates, all the details — it’s wonderfully constructed and full of proper Orky character. If I had seen your project before finishing mine, I’m certain I would have “ borrowed” a few ideas… probably more than a few...
Fantastic job. Really inspiring stuff. It’s a proper inspiration for all of us building our own stompy monstrositie.

Ork builds are so fun. You can do whatever you want.
I'm really liking the rust you have done.

I’m really looking forward to seeing those final details - and I’m absolutely delighted that you’re planning to add a Grot Bomb or some air support. Borrow away ! That’s the proper Orky way: see something fun, nick the idea , and make it louder , bigger , and far more unsafe !
Those rusted chains sound perfect for a Gargant . Nothing says “ properly maintained Orky engineering” like chains whose best days were several WAAAGHs ago.
Funny thing - I’m hunting for rusty chains to add to my own Gargant too. Last week I even found some on the street… but they were tiny and not nearly enough . The search continues!
And honestly,a think a build this big is never truly finished. There’s always one more plate, one more glyph, one more boom that the Mek just needs to add…
Can’t wait to see the next update!

Looking great!
I’m trying to stay fully loyal to the trashbuild spirit, so I’m not planning to buy anything for my Gargant - except glue (a LOT of glue!) and some cheap acrylics. Even those are bargain-store stuff, the kind of thing you’d pick up in a “dollar store”. I’m really aiming to keep the whole project as low-cost and scavenged as possible. Feels more Orky that way too!
I really liked your air-support gantry and the Grot Bomb!
(I’ve noticed a lot of Gargant builders going for Deffkoptas as their air support, which is a pretty cool idea. I went with an airplane simply because I had an old, half-broken fuselage from a kit lying around… seemed like Mork (or maybe Gork) wanted me to use it.
Thanks for sharing your project: it’s been a real pleasure to follow the progress!
