Hello fellow Dakka Dakkars!

My name is Casey, forum handle LunarWolfy.

I started playing Warhammer 40k in 1995 not long after I moved to Los Angles/(Venice) CA to work in VFX.

My girlfriend ended up working at the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica and just up the street was a Games Workshop store
right on Santa Monica Blvd just off 3rd street so you could see the sign easily.

I had played Talisman, Warlock of Firetop Mountain, etc and other games by them before as my Aunt and Uncle had these games
when I would visit Santa Rose CA for the Summer... coming from Wyoming of all places.

Anyways... My girlfriend (who is now my long time wife) and I would buy and paint the 2nd edition miniatures.

She advanced much faster than I did in painting and I quickly leveled up from her help.
She could paint them just like Eavy Metal and did quite a good job on the Eldar models/Dreadnaughts etc.

I mainly did Ultramarines and Orks.. though the first model I bought was the Bjorn the Fell handed Dreadnaught.
Just so cool a model I had to have it.

We didn't learn the game right away. We painted stuff for a few weeks and then started to learn to play.
Anyways... we junked out on Games Workshop between 1995 and 2001.. a little ways into 3rd edition.

We had sizable armies of

Space Marines
Orks
Chaos Space Marines, Black legion, Thousand Sons, Khorne Worldeaters, Nurgle Greater Demon... too mant to list.
Eldar, she loved the Harlequins, the Warp Spiders, Wraithguard.. etc.
Tyranids
Necrons

Also did Gorka Morka, Battlefleet Gothing.
Epic 40k, 40K 3rd Edition Box set... and a few Warhammer Fantasy Skaven minis like the Bell.

Anyways... we ended up in some financial hardship in 2001 and had to move...
We sold everything on Ebay for like $500.. box sets inis everything.
Probably like $4000-$5000 of stuff just put into one big package and sold.

Ironically... one of my VFX Clients did end up finally paying me and... if I would have waited a few more weeks..
everything would have ended up fine and we would have kept the minis and everything.

My brother still has all his stuff from that era as well thankfully. Dark Angels and Grey Knights.

I often wonder if someone still has those minis I sold on Ebay in 2001?

I wish I would have kept the little Ghazkull Thraka.. it was always my fave character and paint job.
Wasn't my best... probably Ahriman was my best painted mini.. or maybe Abaddon or Greater Demon of Nurgle...

Anyways I ended up buying a lot of 30k stuff during the pandemic so I could do Luna Wolves...
This was before the Horus Heresy Box set came out.
I do intend to get the 1st Horus Heresy Box with all the Minis, Tank, and Dreadnaught that came out a couple years ago.
I have always loved the Luna Wolves lore pre Heresy and want to do a Luna Wolves vs Orks setup at some point.
Maybe a diorama with Horus in White, Red, and Gold Armor.

Hopefully get to painting again this summer. I have a fresh set of paints and cans of primer already.
AND... found my old Varga Airbrush.

Thanks for reading and I have been lurking here for years always checking on the nicely painted minis over the years.
