It's a few scant paragraphs, and it doesn't seem to be based on anything genuine. In fact it reads like it's intended ironically:

After many years of marriage, my wife tolerates the hobby but does not relate to it - although she played Space Crusade with apparent enjoyment. It does it appear to make me any more attractive to her.

But I do know lots of women that like miniature gaming, and a lot that don’t. Now days I don’t think this joke can be done well without effort.
