I don't think the HQ really needs pods, as they can always DS anyway and don't need to drop super close to be effective, so it saves me 60 points and if I want I can start them on the table.  I understand that there might be better traits to take too, but these are the ones listed for the Salamanders in the Codex, and thats who Im playing so this is what I have to work with. Let me know what you think, Im 10 points short so any suggestions on that would be helpful as well, and if you have any suggestions as what to drop to slim it to 1500 let me know.  As always input is much appreciated.

The House that Peterbilt

Looks solid. Several suggestion for those 10 points:

1) Swap out the PW/SB on the master for pair lightning claws

2) Swap out the SB on the librarian for a power weapon (6 force weapon attacks on the charge).

3) Two teleport homers on the tacticals

4) Lose the EA armor (or 1 EA and Epistolary SB) and upgrade 1 dread to venerable.

5) Swap out master for codicier with FotA (120 points versus 128)

snoogums: "Just because something is not relavant doesn't mean it goes away completely."

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."

I play Salamanders too. They are fairly hard to beat and can easily play for a tie if the situation is dire. I have never used drop pods though and I think they add much needed mobility to an army like this. If you want to drop it down to 1500 just drop your Assault Terminators. Assault Terminators are less effective than regular Terminators, they are easily avoidable and I have never seen them make their points back. They have their uses but are just aren't viable. I went ultra fluffy with my army. No Las, Plas, Assault Cannons at all. My dread has a Multi melta and heavy flamer. Libby has fury. Marines have meltas. Termies have heavy flamers. I even stuck a Multi Melta on my veteran squad. This is the fluffiest Salamander army one can make. I'll admit its not as competitive as it could be. I will post my 1850 list.
