... and have added severa LoTR FAQs instead: http://uk.games-workshop.com/news/errata/3/ GWUS still has the 40K FAQs posted but not the LoTR FAQs: http://us.games-workshop.com/errata/errata.htm Does this mean we may indeed be seeing... dare I say it... the updated 40K FAQs we were promised so long ago?

I hate to be the such a cynic, but the first thought that came into my head was a GW release saying that "No FAQs will mean less rules disputes between players who are aware and unaware of GW's web-based materials."
I'm praying that isn't true, but that was my immediate response.

Let's not rush to judgement on anything here. Any number of things could have happened. They could have moved them and not yet created a new link, they files could have become corrupted, or maybe they are re-arranging the data on the site.
If we are polite about it...maybe one of the folks who work at GW and lurk the boards could give us some info. Are they just missing or are we going to get some updated FAQs?

GW UK are doing things... LOTR is definately new, plus there's the new Dwarf errata for WFB. I reakon we'll have 40K soon (Wood Elves and Ogre Kingdoms too) as Games Development isn't split into WFB/40K/LOTR teams as it used to be, and they're clearly working on FAQs/errata at the moment.

Don't worry, the FAQ won't actually answer any common questions, just oddball ones that rarely come up. They will have a couple of 'clarifications' that directly contradict the writtne rules that are already clear. Also Obliterators will be clarified to be Toughness 5 but will be able to be instant killed by strength 8.

I don't remember being promised any FAQs but we are nearly two years in from release of 4th ed so it's about time they put something out.
They need to release a basic rules FAQ before the individual codex FAQs.
I should think about 6 months is a reasonable time to put together an FAQ for a codex. By that standard we ought to have SM and Nid by now and expect Tau and CoD by the end of the year.

I asked Andy Hoare about them at Gamesday LA and he said that Alisso was working on them, and that they would be out next week... ...of course that was in April.

Of course, that same page has been saying that new FAQs are "coming soon" for like the last 4 months, so I think the cynicism is well earned in this case.

My worry is that they'll rush out a bunch of FAQs all in one go, some of which will be half-baked because they hadn't allowed time to collect the questions.

The "Coming Soon" line has been there since the shrine came out.

Oh they'll be half-baked all right. But not the half-baked you were thinking of.

I don't understand why not put out a beta, get comments to make sure there are no foul ups and then make it official. Taht would avoid the half bakes issue in the first place, as well as potentially point out other areas that need to be addressed. I'm worried that we'll see a general FAQ that is maybe three pages long and does not clarify: LOS/distance in any simple cohesive fashion, whether or not AP 1 takes precedence vs. skimmers moving fast, etc. etc.

Exactly. Exactly. It should even be longer than that-including Idiots Guide To examples for the more mentally challenged players such as myself.

From what I looked at, if the spanish site FAQs are any indicator, I think people are going to be let down. I looked at the Yakface FAQ and it was pretty good. I am uncertain as to whether or not GW Devellopment was aware of it when they are reviewing the FAQs. t

I find it amusing that they haven't even answered the, hands down, most frequently asked question, "When will we be seeing new FAQs?" They can't or won't answer one FAQ, I'm not expecting much if/when they get arround to putting these things up.

I'll believe in GW FAQ's when I see them. To contrast, Battlefront released version 2 of FoW 2 weeks ago (July 6), and the FAQ's came out yesterday (July 20). Did the books have more than their share of silly typos and ambiguities? Yes. Was it addressed immediately? Hell yeah.
