Imagine a unit wants to assault an enemy unit that is behind difficult terrain.  The assaulting unit is currently in a Castellan minefield.  The assaulting unit fails to roll high enough on its difficult terrain test to make it into base contact.  Does the assaulting unit take hits from the minefield?

I'd say no. If you roll the difficult terrain test, you re not compelled to move the models. (page 17). Move the models, and take the hits, or stay stationary and don't take the hits.

This reminds me of the other situation that is not covered by the rules - when troops assaulting into dangerous terrain lose casualties, and therefore fail to make it into close combat. Do they move and take the casualties, or do they not move and not take the casualties? The only reason fro the failed charge is the causalties, which don't occur iof it's a failed charge. But, if the casualties don't occur, then the charge is successful... infinite loop.
