I only buy legal copies, from GW stores, usually. I own current copies of vanilla marines, Black Templars, Dark Angels, IG, Chaos Marines, Dark Eldar... I just love the fluff, and all the purdy lil' pictures...
I own the CSM codex, 4th and 5th ed BGB, and Battle Missions (which is indispensable). In my house (thanks to my friends leaving all of their stuff strewn about my den and garage) I have SW, BA, CD, a second copy of CSM and soon to be SM and GK lying around, along with Cities of Death and Apocalypse.
I have seen a couple of pdfs in my day, but really I tend to wait until I get my hands on the real thing to give it a proper look. Dunno why, the book is just better.
IA, however, makes a good case for pirating. Kinda pricey. I definitely need to get a legit Siege of Vraks III for the Nurgle goodness.
