The frustration is that with how slow they're coming out with these things, by the time X or Y legion gets their particular upgrade, who knows how long it'll be. There will be someone complaining until every legion gets equal attention.

tbh, GW should just leave the legion-specific stuff to 3d printers and focus instead on getting the rest of the necessary range out.

But what do I know.

I doubt a few legion specific things in resin are what’s holding up things like plastic Assault Marines. And I like the legion specific stuff. I just wish it didn’t take them 10 years to roll it out for every legion.

I really like this upgrade kit and there could be some really cool stuff for the other legions, I just hope they all get them in a reasonable timescale.

I actually really like the new MkIII armour. I’m not sure about the grill-less helmets but the half grill one is very cool.

I’m surprised by Daemon Fulgrim, I’m hoping 40k Emperors Children aren’t many years away, and I don’t see the plastic Fulgrim looking this good. Genuinely incredible model. Dread the price though.

Yeah the box is mighty tempting. Wonder what price point it’ll come in at.

To a lesser extent, I'm hopeful my Salamanders get something other than "here are some combi-flamers" for the Adherents. I like the unit but they're just 40k Vets armed w same weapon...

I’m more worried the Sunkillers won’t be in the book, seeing as their exemplary battle isn’t even one of the included ones, as Marshal Loss pointed out.

yes, but you need to paint them before you build them to look good and stay flexible

Wait, why would you want them to stay flexible? The arm will be fixed anyway. I'm guessing the intended use is to pose the arm, assemble the belt, let it settle in a natural gravity induced droop, then add a bit of glue as deep as possible into each link so it doesn't gunk up the surface. Then paint a solid model as normal.
you can do it that way, but it won't look good any more as you are going to see the glue (and with not enough glue so you don't see it, it won't stay fixed anyway)

point is, for those links to look good painted, it is a lot of work, and I don't think it is less work than removing mould lines on on part belts (as you still have to remove them here as well)

but as I said, display model level of work, not a gaming piece

You won’t see any glue? Glue each link together, leaving it flexible. Pose and glue each end in, and then run some plastic glue into each link.

I think they look cool with those helmets tbf. They’re suitably styalised that they don’t just read as MkVI helmets on MkIII armour.

Bit on the fence about the corrupted EC rules. Goonhammer writes that there are two corrupted rites of war supplied, both of which require Fulgrim - if you don't take Fulgrim, you don't get a rite of war. That sucks if accurate.

Yeah that’s disappointing. The whole book sounds pretty disappointing tbh from the Goonhammer review. No Sunkillers either which is pretty baffling. They’re not loyalist only or anything are they?

Here is a size comparison of old and new MkIII, along MkIV, new MkVI, Primaris, Cadians, and a MkVII Marine from the Space Marine Hero series.

Much appreciated Stahly, doing the Emperor's work as always. Am wondering how the old MkIII heads will look on the new Mk III bodies now.

The core marine kit that makes Tactical squads, support squads, heavy squads, and despoilers is 5 poses (even with 2 armour marks now it’s still 5 poses). I’d be incredibly surprised if the Assault squad had 10.

7/12 - Saboteur

In less then a month, they've announced 3 (4ish) legion consuls. I'd give pretty good odds of your precious Ravenguard getting theirs!

Raven Guard don’t actually have a legion specific consul to get a model of though, unlike the ones we’ve got so far (TS aside). Maybe they’ll get a vigilator or something in the vein of said TS librarian, but they could do with their Praetor models first.

Am I correct in assuming this means plastic Mechanicum in August?

Cause that would be awesome sauce.

you'll notice that chart says 2022?

the army book "liber mechanicum" was released in august of 2022

You’ll notice you’re replying to a post on the first page of a 224 page thread, that started in 2022?

Optimist. I expect that the new plastic kits will be about a nickel less than resin.

Haven’t all the Heresy plastics been a fairly decent saving over the resin?

It's a limited box.

Did they confirm or are we assuming? Because we thought that about the age of Darkness box, and the bretonnia and Tomb Kings boxes...

It’s the same format as the Legiones Astartes Battlegroup which was limited. Still assuming but based on a recent similar example.

On the other hand, I don't see the resins mattering for people who want to get into this faction. Overcoming the 'resin barrier' is part of the point of HH2.

I mean to say that without bundle discounts, Aux in plastic won't be meaningfully more financially accessible than it was in resin. Like... will people start an army that costs 2 grand if they didn't already when it cost 3 grand?

I think it’s probably meaningfully more financially accessible when the main troops go from £90 for 20 to £45ish.

So are the Hermes and the Aethon (?) on the same sprue or two kits?

Definitely not a fan of the Hermes, the front armor plate is much too small. Take a step to the right and you have a clear shot at the pilot.

Police in Cairo had these tiny little 3' wide pavise shields with the same practical issue. Bugged me there too.

The Aethon is the big boy, is that what you meant? Cos they’re definitely 2 kits. The 2 versions of the little one are one kit though, 2 models that can make either variant.

I’d love it to be the same price as the Astartes one, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a bit more. It’s slightly less infantry, the Dread and Sentinel are pretty similar but then this one has 2 tanks.

I’m pretty damn happy with the same price as the Astartes one. I’ll probably only get one, I’m starting them off as allies (mainly to justify it easier).

It’s 5 less infantry but an extra tank. That doesn’t really feel like less to me.

Fair enough. Personally I don’t overly care about the rules right now, and I think it was always gonna be less points wise than the Astartes one, so I don’t overly mind it being slightly more expensive. It feels like a pretty good deal to me, relative to other similar priced releases.

Little bit irritating that they say ‘if you have a spare base’. They really couldn’t throw an extra 28mm in there?
