Hey guys wanted to create a list that would be fun to play, have a bit of diversity in units and could be successful. I based my choices on models I liked (look cool and fun to paint), units that are proven on the battlefield, as well as gameplay balance (nothing too one dimensional and that could let me participate in every phase of the game). Let me know what your thoughts are.. HQ:<? Hive Tyrant (179) -Winged -Toxin Sacs -Adrenal Glands (WS) -Implant Attack -2x Scything Talons -Warp Blast Hive Tyrant (228) -Venom Cannon -Barbed Strangler -Enhanced Senses *(2) Tyrant Guard Elite: Carnifex (113) -Twin-Linked Devourer -Twin-Linked Devourer -Enhanced Senses Carnifex 85 (113) -Twin-Linked Devourer -Twin-Linked Devourer -Enhanced Senses Troops: (14) Spinegaunts (126) -Spinefists -Toxic Sacs -Adrenal Glands (WS) (10) Genestealers (200) -Extended Carapace (10) Genestealers (200) -Extended Carapace (10) Genestealers (200) -Extended Carapace Heavy Support: Carnifex (163) -Venom Cannon -Barbed Strangler -Enhanced Senses -Reinforced Chitin Carnifex (163) -Venom Cannon -Barbed Strangler -Enhanced Senses -Reinforced Chitin Zoanthrope (65) -Synapse -Warp Blast

yes, no, maybe so? Here is another idea for an 1800 point army:
HQ:
Hive Tyrant (194) -Winged -Toxin Sacs -Adrenal Glands (WS) -Adrenal Glands (I) -Implant Attack -2x Scything Talons -Warp Blast
Hive Tyrant (245) -Venom Cannon -Barbed Strangler -Enhanced Senses -Toxin sacs *(2) Tyrant Guard
Elite:
Carnifex (113) -Twin-Linked Devourer -Twin-Linked Devourer -Enhanced Senses
Carnifex (113) -Twin-Linked Devourer -Twin-Linked Devourer -Enhanced Senses
Troops:
(16) Spinegaunts (144) -Spinefists -Toxic Sacs -Adrenal Glands (WS)
(10) Genestealers (200) -Extended Carapace
(10) Genestealers (200) -Extended Carapace
(10) Genestealers (200) -Extended Carapace
Heavy Support:
Carnifex (163) -Venom Cannon -Barbed Strangler -Enhanced Senses -Reinforced Chitin
Carnifex 85 (163) -Venom Cannon -Barbed Strangler -Enhanced Senses -Reinforced Chitin
Zoanthrope (65) -Synapse -Warp Blast

Here's what I don't like:
1) The Barbed Strangler on the walking Tyrant. The weapon is just too many points considering it doesn't utilize the fact that the HT has 3 Attacks. Switch over to a Venom Cannon/TL Devourer immediately. The range is shorter, but is much, much more useful on a Tyrant.
2) Expensive Spinegaunts. The WHOLE POINT of taking Spinegaunts is to get awesomely cheap models to soak fire or tie up a unit in combat. You just cannot beat their statline for 5 points a model. Get rid of all the silly upgrades and just keep 'em at 5 points (and take more).
3) Big units of Genestealers. You're only taking 4 Troops choices, so why would you take such big broods of Stealers? You gain absolutely no advantage this way, but you limit the number of scoring units you have. Stick with Broods of either six or eight models and split up them up into more units. It will give you more versatility for scoring units and it will sometimes prevent casualties as your opponents may end up wasting shots overkilling a smaller unit.
4) The Warp Blast on the flying Tyrant. Your Tyrant is tooled up to fight in CC, you really don't want to tempt yourself into sitting back and shooting something instead. If you're going to shoot a unit you're charging, you always stand the chance of making the unit fall back, or killing the models in charge range.
Take the points and put it towards +1 Initiative instead.
Besides that, I think its a very solid list. In the right hands it will beat most mid-level type armies.

Thanks for the feedback Yak! Here is an edited list based on your recommendations..what do you think? HQ:<? Hive Tyrant (174) -Winged -Toxin Sacs -Adrenal Glands (WS) -Adrenal Glands (I) -Implant Attack -2x Scything Talons Hive Tyrant (239) -Venom Cannon -Twin-Linked Devourer -Enhanced Senses -Toxin Sacs *(2) Tyrant Guard Elite: Carnifex (113) -Twin-Linked Devourer -Twin-Linked Devourer -Enhanced Senses Carnifex 85 (113) -Twin-Linked Devourer -Twin-Linked Devourer -Enhanced Senses Troops: (16) Spinegaunts (80) -Spinefists (8) Genestealers (160) -Extended Carapace (8) Genestealers (160) -Extended Carapace (8) Genestealers (160) -Extended Carapace (8) Genestealers(160) -Extended Carapace Heavy Support: Carnifex (163) -Venom Cannon -Barbed Strangler -Enhanced Senses -Reinforced Chitin Carnifex (163) -Venom Cannon -Barbed Strangler -Enhanced Senses -Reinforced Chitin Zoanthrope (65) -Synapse -Warp Blast When I added the TL Devourer onto the walking Tyrant I decided to get him Toxin Sacs to negate the strength deduction from the weapon. So it also netted an extra 10 points on the VC also. Is that wise? Or should I just deal with a str 4 Devourer and a str 7 VC ( vs. a str 5 Devourer and a str 8 VC) and get more Gaunts?

Sorry I never replied. The Strength on the walking Tyrant is definitely worth the points.
If I had one more comment on your list I would say that you could use less Genestealers and more Spinegaunts to help get your numbers up. Or alternatively, you could lose one unit of stealers take another 16 Spinegaunt brood and take 2 units of 1 Ravener a piece.
That would give you 3 scoring units for the same price as a single stealer unit, it will get your bodycount up a bit, and give you some speed.
This army will have a hard time with any super-shooty infantry based army, especially if it's MEQ. It will also struggle with pure mech armies too, especially skimmer based.
Essentially, you will have the best chance against armies that have a few vehicles (but not so many that your 3 AT units can't reasonably suppress them) and some troops, especially if they have taken a mix of CC and shooting. You should be able to put out a pretty good amount of firepower and you have a serious CC element, so if you face another army with a similar mix you should do prett well if you play your list well.
And yes, if an army is loaded up on AP4 weapons (Heavy Bolters, Assault Cannons) your Stealers are going to die quickly if they're in the open.
