We set up an apocalypse style server for a zombie hunting minigame. It uses Flan's gun mods and the Cityworld generation mods, plus a few things that make zombie hordes much tougher. The kick off is 5pm NZ time, about 11pm Eastern.

That looks interesting, I think I'll check it out.

Augh, I've lost 2 horse in the Nether near the spawn this week. One of them just an hour ago. The only person that was on between the last time I saw it and the time I realized it was missing was Co'tor Shas. Who tells me he never saw it. (along with some suspicious behavior )

Is there a glitch along those lines? Considering there's a couple of cows near my own nether portal on a mid-air bridge, it seems unlikely.

Did you name it? I'm not sure if tamed horses de-spawn. It could have wandered into a portal or something as well.

I didn't think Horses despawned at all. Maybe they do in the Nether.

I'm 100% sure that tamed horses don't despawn normally.

Its possible he wandered off and got killed while the chunks were loaded, although that would be difficult.

Maybe stop leaving them there then? I did see one of the two new ones wondering out of the pen earlier this morning. Haven't been on since though.

I saw a brown horse named "Lotet" wandering around the Nether spawn for the past few days, and another one that appeared to be corralled but that's all I've seen of them.

Really nice job on the sheep barn, by the way. Not sure who was responsible for it but it's much nicer looking and way more "efficient" than the previous sheep pen.

The corral was probably too small for two horse I suppose. But I don't understand how both could get out or why any of them would vanish on their own. Like I said, I have two nether cows that have been hanging out there for months without any problems.

I've just made a shelter at the spawn. My new horse is probably the fastest and has 10 hearts of health, which looks nicer. Though I might widen the portal room by a little bit, since I can't get a horse in and out of it without removing a couple of stone slabs.

Also I'm going to make sure I name every horse I bring to the spawn, just in case.

Are the corrals fully enclosed? Horses can jump over fences sometimes.

If the corral is too small they could have glitched into each other and popped out.

FYI, there is a Iron farm at spawn, feel free to help yourself. When you see it, look for the roses and the iron block, they mark the steps down to the chest.

It's much appreciated, thanks... wait, wasn't this Lady Dria's work? In any case, I've been swiping most of the iron that gets made while I stay there, a perk of building nearby, which of course leaves everything that was made before I get there.

It was her work yes, with help, but she's not on dakka. it was pointed out that if you didn't know what it was, you'd never realize there was free iron down there. So I just wanted to bring it to peoples attention that it is producing iron.

She's supposed to increase the storage area and make the path down more obvious, but I'm not sure when she plans on getting to it.

Hey folks, I was wondering if, next time I'm on tonight (probably gonna ask this in chat, too) if anyone would be willing to take some 360 screenshots of my current skin for me? I'd do it myself, but you know you can only really get the front and back from yourself.

I'm doing a skin swap, and I want to save the old one in case I ever want to switch back to it, but I made it, wow, 5, 6 years ago? And didn't save the file through computer transfers.

Or if anyone knows how to pull a skin file back off Minecraft, that'd be handy too.

There is a website that does that. It's called something like "minecraft skin lookup" or something.

Hey folks, I've been working on a new area for spawn (more on that later.)

I've also set up a project board, feel free to tackle any of the items listed on there, or make your own! I can donate resources within reason.

Please don't build in the area I've recently expanded though. I've got plans for most of that space.

I could donate some large quantities of cobblestone, gravel and dirt.

I've been digging a huge quarry down to bed rock so my chests are overflowing.

I might have to take you up on that. I had a small handful of silk touch stone picks I was using, but they've been blown up and such since then.

Whatchoo doing with your quarry, Edithae?

Besides stockpiling the stone, dirt and gravel that I dig up for future construction projects, I'll be using the quarry as a central hub for a network of Diamond mines - crisscrossing tunnels that search through every single layer of a chunk until the Diamond vein in that chunk is discovered. Every chunk contains one vein of Diamond below Y=15. When you find it, mark that chunk as tapped out, and move onto the next chunk.

Its a very efficient if labour intensive way of mining for Diamond. You're absolutely guaranteed* to find Diamond, if you're patient and thorough.

*except when caves (empty air) or lava lakes blocks the generation of a diamond within a chunk. But generally speaking, if you're tunneling through solid rock, you will find diamond.

Natural generation

Diamond ore only appears at Y level 15 and below, and can be found in veins of 3–9. One diamond ore vein generates per chunk; this vein or part of it may be overwritten by generated structures such as caves, leaving you without any diamonds in said chunk also, because of the way chunks are populated the vein "belonging" to a chunk can actually be generated in the neighboring chunk leading to some chunks with two veins. There is an average of 3.097 diamond ore per chunk-sized area. The highest concentration of diamonds occurs between levels 5–12. Because of the lava lakes, there is slightly less diamond ore in the middle of that range (around layer 9).

Also, having a giant hole in the ground that extends down to bed rock is cool. At some point I'll build a deep pool of water at the bottom so I can jump down instead of taking the stairs.
