Skyrim. I have been playing my 3rd character. A pure mage. Its tough. When you get hit, you lose health quick. I often get two-shotted if I let my magic armor time out.
I am also waiting for SW:TOR to install on my pathetic DSL connection. Looking forward to giving it another shot now that it's free. Started a Sith inquisitor on my free trial a while back.

The genocide and slavery is pretty bad, but I think the Legion's most heinous crime is wearing those godawful skirts. As for me, I'm giving Knights of the Old Republic another go. It's a lot better than I remembered.

Been going through both KOTOR and KOTOR 2 in between mucking about in the full Wing Commander series, (including Privateer which I just can't get to grips with.) and getting to grips with Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance.

Yes they are, though Cris Avellone did say that they were underrepresented due to time constraints. Still, between a democratic nation struggling to survive (and with technology) and a close minded barbaric dictatorship (that's killed all the major threats to themselves), I think I'd go with the former. Too much of the plotline of the New Vegas is shown from the NCR/ anti Legion representative. If they had maybe displayed more of the Legion than its military side (ie a few Legion settlements), maybe they would have come off better, but I doubt it. The developers did acknowledge this, but said that what the Legion did kind of worked in retrospect with the Romans. Whether its applicable in the game's setting is up to the player. =P
Currently putting in another few hundred into New Vegas (no shucks..), and having another go at Mount and Blade. My issue with Mount and Blade is how much grinding you have to go through. I mean I've put plenty of time into the series as a whole, but it always gets me coming back to it that the first couple of hours are a pain.
Odd how guns become much more inaccurate as time progresses. A homemade rifle in Fire and Sword can be pretty precise, and yet you can stand right next to a soldier in Napoleonic Wars and have your shot miss the guy by a clear margin.

181 hours into Mount and Blade, 407 into Fallout.
and yeah, I hate starting Mount and blade.
But there's nothing like the feeling of power you get when you first use a double-barreled dutch pistol in fire and sword
"all you puny mortals with your four-round-a-minute fire rate!"
and yeah, but Napoleonic wars is probably the funniest game to play online... I haven't seen a single match where it's taken seriously

0.0 There's a double barreled pistol? I've put seventeen hours into that and never seen one. The amount of times I've been knocked out by a peasant with a home made rifle in that game. ...Still running about with a brace of pistols is always fun, if woefully impractical.
Piper + standing by a breach in a fort's wall = hours of fun/cheating death as people rush by you to their own demise. =)
I'm playing the campaign in warband right now. At the moment I'm pining to ally with the Swadians (as they're typically the first nation for me to bump off and I felt like a change). The annoyance is that they've decided to start a little war with the Rhodoks and the Sultanate (with another two border skirmishes with the Nords and the Vaegirs). ...So I now need to wait for them to force a peace less I annoy almost every other faction in the land. Its as though King Harlaus really is trying to do his damnedest to lose all his territory or something.
Though then again maybe he heard that I was coming and thought his nation would be better off fending against every other nation than having me as an ally. =/

Ever played the board game Saga? Its a bit like that...
Its a game about feudalism really. You play as a mercenary out to make a name for themselves. This amounts to you travelling about a *not middle ages Europe/Arabia building an army, ingratiating yourself to the nobles/kicking them about because they're all tools and leaving small villages destitute after you've raided them for the twelth time.
There's RPG elements such as character stats and equipment, though most of the game is based around the battles. You could just chuck about being a mercenary, but the later game really comes down to you forging an empire. Said empire will most likely have you as the head though, because again, most of the nobles are annoying as hell (as in their all self serving/better than thou unless you spend a bit of time doing tasks for them).
Warband usually goes for a few pounds at the most in the steam sales, so its worth a go. ...Just don't ally with the Swadians. I've had the king throwing feasts even as his enemies swoop in to take his castles and ...steal the food going to his feast. =P

I got my character's standing with King Harlus up to 30 before I allied with him just for that reason. So far I've single handedly captured three castles for him, and killed more people than anyone else when taking Veluca. Typically however when asking who the new fiefs go to none of the other lords (bar the odd one) say that they should go to the one that actually captured them... ¬¬
Harluas gave me the first castle I took, despite the other lords disapproval. If he doesn't give me the other couple I'll oppose him and rebel. Time to instill a regime that's half competent/rewards people for their actions, not just their standing. =P
It does speak of just how contrived society was back then though...

It's in Fire and sword, you order it for a lot of thaler from a weapons master, once you hire one in a town.
ExNoctemNacimur wrote:And the Swadian bastard keeps all the captured fiefs!
yup, he does that. I captured five from the sarranids, whilst outnumbered each time, and he gave me one. I rebelled, retook all those castles, then stormed through all of the sultanate and swadia. ATM, all that's left is the last of the Rhodoks (no castles left) and the Nords, who I've avoided all game due to my army being like 70% huscarls (which are, incidentally, awesome).
It's my experience of the game that Swadia gets crushed pretty quickly, due to the king being an idiot and it being surrounded on all sides. Sarranids are weak too, they really don't stand up in sieges due to their light armour. Toughest for me are the Rhodoks (lots of anti-armour, so they're bad for Swadians/Nords) and Nords, whose massive shields, heavy armour and brutal axes make them the best heavy infantry in the game by far, especially during sieges.

I have found that an army comprised almost solely of Swadian Knights, and Sarranid mounted archers is nothing short of BA, you can pretty much run anything down with that army (and putting a few perks into map traveling, etc.)
