"Fear is freedom! Subjugation is liberation! Contradiction is truth! These are the truths of this world! Surrender to these truths, you pigs in human clothing!" - Satsuki Kiryuin, Kill la Kill
Finished "If Her Flag Breaks". Man, very good 8/10. I personally liked the art style and the ending payoff was quite good. It takes one hell of a sharp turn to get there, but it gets there and is enjoyable.
So my weird anime of the day is "Those Who Hunt Elves" and...you just need to look it up. In short three humans have been transported to a fantasy world along with a Type 74 MBT and have to find the 5 pieces of a spell that will send them home... these 5 pieces are basically tattooed onto 5 random (probably female) elves.
Now weird anime of the day out of the way, some music to start your hump day off right!
I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
Lemme at least leave a good hoof beat they'll remember loud and long

Ah yes, that was a fun one. Some of the episodes are on youtube, for the curious.
I preferred the first season over the second. There was also a manga, but they never fully translated it.

My theory is he's Valhallen, the Viking God of Rock and Roll.
The official music video and full length song for Moon Pride is up
Looks like it isn't going to be commercially available in the U.S. though.
I'm really enjoying Bladedance of the Elementelar even if it's the most cliche anime this season, if not a direct expy of Familiar of Zero, but I liked Familiar of Zero, and Bladedance might be cliche but it's well executed enough to keep my attention. It also has a serious earworm for an ending song... not sure what's up with that.

Decided to finally start No Game, No Life tonight. Good so far.. Took me a second to get used to the art but that's ironed out now. Plus a great Opening Song that's probably going to get stuck in my head now.

I'm going to a convention next week, and was planning on checking out the anime merch section, because screw people and their judging judgmentalness. Anywho, could someone with some experience offer some advice to help me make sure the merch is on the up and up (ie, not bootleg or subpar Chinese knockoff.)
In on topic news, I gave Knights of Sidonia a look and... huh. Distopyian harem slice of life? kooky.

Depends on what you're looking for, t-shirts and the like it doesn't matter too much one way or another, DVDs... the best thing to do is keep a phone handy and be searching releases and ensuring DVDs are carrying the various marks you'd expect. Funimation licensed stuff will be branded as such, etc.

Usually at big cons you don't have to worry about it too much. They vet their vendors to some extent and many big companies are actually present to one extent or another.

Most cons do a good job of keeping the shady gits away. The bigger the con, the tighter the scrutiny. If you go to a small, 3,000 person convention held in a hotel, you might run into some scammers, but at Supermegafantasticanimecon IV you will only be dealing with licensed vendors, since a large con needs a large venue, and that means a proper convention center (which means state taxes, licensing, oversight, etc). When Otakon went to the B-more convention center in '99, their dealers' room (and everywhere else, too) was shaken up by the new restrictions placed on people by virtue of being on city-owned land. By 2000, the vendors who dealt in "grey-market" anime goods had all but vanished from the Otakon dealers' room.
Emperor's Eagles (undergoing Chapter reorganization)
Caledonian 95th (undergoing regimental reorganization)
Thousands Sons (undergoing Warband re--- wait, are any of my 40K armies playable?)
I'm hoping to get away with just buying Corvus Belli's Operation: Icestorm... but I haven't gone to GenCon before so my mind and bank account will likely be blown.

I have found a jewel that's Nichijou. This is hilarious and so much WTF. Please, allow me to present you a bit of what happens in ep1.
