Torin, as much as i dislike telling people to spend money, that scheme is very very good, and so i'd suggest buying those paints

This is a long shot if you are purely a hobby painter but you have recipes for similar blues using Phalo blue green shade or Paynes grey.

Okay, since I am unable to get to GW any time soon I have decided to use what paints i had available for the blue armour of the Crimson Fists.

Blue armour;

-Chaos Black undercoat
-Necron Abbyss (basecoat)
-Regal blue (highlight stage 1)
-Mordian blue (highlight stage 2)
-Codex grey (highlight stage 3)
-Asurmen Blue (wash whole model)

And for the red armour;

-Mechrite Red (basecoat)
-Asurmen Blue (wash over all red areas)
-Mechrite Red (reset basecoat, leave recesses shaded)
-Badad Black (wash into recesses to increase definition)

So what does everyone think?
Bearing in mind I used what I had available i am pretty please with how the armour has turned out, next stop, detailing!

Mine's almost the same as Brother SRM's, but I replace the Regal Blue with Necron Abyss and do two additional highlights using UM Blue 1:1 Spacewolf Grey and then SW Grey alone. It gives a very dark blue that borders on black on flat patches (thanks to pooling of washes) and a lighter blue on the highlighted edges. I also just use BG Metal for the aquila, highlighted with Chainmail to keep things simple.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
