Wow. That sounds amazing, I really can't wait to see the sketch, never mind the finished product!

I am in a current state of epic fail. Let me explain. As of right now, I do not have a scanner. Recently this week we had a string of thunderstorm because of the extreme head. Monday after a set of multiple power outages, my scanner/ printer/ copy/ fax machine was fried. Not only is this annoying, it is going to cost me more then I really wish to spend this month.
Ok for the good news. The units of Sisters are almost complete. I just have to touch up a few and take their pictures for you all to see. I am going to work with the sketch of battle board that I designed and want to create. My work has a scanner. I hope that I will be able to get everything out on the blog ASAP.
I had purchase two airbrushes that I am currently practicing with them technique that I have seen on YouTube videos. One is a Duel the other is a single.
I had also purchased the model that I need for the bases of the superheavy that I am building for the squad. Do not worry; I did not forget the flier. I need to start the construction on both of these conversations before I make the battle board, just so that I know I will have room to fit them on.
Sorry the problems but like I said I have a week of epic failure.

Sorry to hear about your scanner issues, that really sucks. Can't wait to see the scans soon though.
Can you post links to the airbrush videos, I have an airbrush, but I employ no skill in using it. It's great for getting a decent base coat on though!

I find that the airbrush is a good tool as long it is well maintained and cared for. I would say that it would help with some aspects of the project; however, I would not rely on it. This will help me with the battle board and the tanks; I would not use it for the smaller models. Some people are probable able to use it to design with the small models, I am just not up to that level yet. I had it for two weeks now and I just started to learn how to line and dot with effects. I will have to learn a great amount more, next would be something called dagger strokes.

Ah yes, the old dagger strokes, I've heard that it's a good method to practice the paintflow. I agree that an airbrush is a great tool, but as you've hinted at you're always going to need brushes to do the detailing.
New models are looking great, the face of the HB looks especially good.

You are all correct about the sisters. The Purple/pink is a highlight that I used intending to individualize each of the sister models. This particular sister skin tone was painting as an Asian skin tone. I used that to determine what the highlights would be by checking a Google search on “Asian hair color.” This searched gave me multiple ideas but this picture below gave me the idea for the best result.

I'm going to be honest, I don't like the dark skinned sister with the blonde hair. Maybe it's just a personal preference, but it just looks odd. Nothing to do with the painting, that's fine, but the'res something about it....

I thank you for your opinion and compliment on the project. I thank you for your honesty and hope you will keep watching the progress of the project until its completion and armies on parade entrance.
I feel I must explain about the blond hair on the African skin tone model. I wanted something to be different about each of the sister models that I am painting. I do want to give each model a unique trait for their appearance. The problem that I run into is that because of natural ethnic traits I am limited to what I can do. If I paint models of the Caucasian skin tones, I have the options of painting any natural hair from platinum blond, red, or raven black; however, if I am painting Asian, Middle Eastern, or African skin tones then I will be limited to Black, brown, grey, and white. Since this is a problem for natural hair color now my only option is hairstyles. If you go to an online search engine such as Google, Yahoo, or Bing and type in “African hairstyles” you will see array of photos of current hairstyles and color that are popular in African/ African-American culture. The most popular of these styles and colors is blond. I know that most people may think it is an odd selection of a sister model but my mind tells me “why not?” The warhammer 40k is a science fiction game with a world of possibilities.

Automatically Appended Next Post: Day 37-
Good evening Dakka,
I know I just posted pictures of the most recent work that I have completed today but I wanted everyone to see something interesting first.
Everyone knows that I am pretty much working in my own mean to complete this project. Funds are hard to get since to complete this project is to cost me another $800 dollars. $500 for the terrain and materials needed for the battle board and $300 for the conversation of the Flier and super-heavy. Is it expensive? Yes! However, not out over my reach. I have resorted to EBay for finding these funds. I had decided to sell my older Sister of battle models online to make up at least half of the funds.
Now before questions are asked, no, these are not a part of this project. These sisters are extras that I had that were only collecting dust. They were sister that I traded from people of the years to build my first sisters army. The ones that were painted were for my Kill team tournament that GW Cottman Ave, Philadelphia store was running about five to six years ago. The ones that are not painted were trades from BazaarBazaars that GW used to run until they stopped them since it was not profitable enough for them to hold. Vexing is it not?
I wanted the pictures to be shown here to give everyone an idea of have my skill has have evolved within the last six year.
You all know that onces this unit is finally complete, that is when I really get to start with the fun stuff, TANKS!!!

As you, all can see the project is moving along great. I am not rushing this since it is for a good cause as well as for a competition. I will have to make this post an update for where my project is going.
I will start with what I have completed. Right now, the two-unit requirement is complete for the armies on parade. I do however have to complete the backpacks for the Sister of Battle squad. I also will need to paint one single Repentia. She had broken on her base and I next got back to her. Just because the minimum unit requirement is reached, I do plan to make further installments on the project.
The Second part of the update is the future. I had already mentioned that I am currently building the funds for the battle board and conversions to bring out the army more with my personal vision of it. I will also be starting some of the transports and tanks, both of these will have my personal touch as well.
Third, the battle board, this is to answer evildrcheese’s questions about the sketches, I do have some sketched ready for the board. My only problem is finding a scanner to use. My phones do not give me a good enough image to post on the page. If you notice my last few pictures my phone’s camera is not focusing images correctly which are leaving the images blurry. I need to find a way to fix this. I will try to have the images of the battle board ideas up on Sunday or Monday.
Please do not forget to check out past post on the project to see the evolution of it. I like to hear what you all think so please show some love and post. I would like to hear from you all. Any questions I will be happy to answer.

It's cool seeing the army evolving and coming together-I look forward to seeing it finished! The mixed skin tones have worked out quite well, and they are a nice break from the usual wall 'o white you find in miniatures gaming.
Tim, I completely agree with you about the skin tones. I have been painting Warhammer models since 2002. The most annoying thing to see in any model is repetition. I had painted Orcs and Goblin, Brettonians, Empire, Dark Elves, High Elves, Space Marines, Orks, Warriors of Chaos, Chaos Daemons, Ogres, and Dwarfs. Each army was the same stock-standard paint scheme for the skin. Orcs are green; everyone else was Caucasian, not including the Salamander Chapter of course. With this army, I truly need to bring some large depth into it. There are many individuals out there and I plan if possible to make every sister different. I promised myself that this would be different from most armies seen out there now. I am just glad that people like you and the rest of Dakka are noticing the differences. They are not big ones but they are here.

I wish to inform everyone that I was not being idle this weekend on my project. My mad scientist ideas have brought me to my first of the three conversation pieces of the project.
I am proud to introduce the Sisters of Battle Engine of Salvation.
I had to start this project by thinking what no one has seen before. People have seen the Dread knight engine and penitent engine conversation before, I am sure of this; however, I am sure that none has seen the variant of the penitent engine, Dread knight, and Sister Repentia conservation that I have just introduced you all to today.
Is that an oversize Eviscerator that the Engine of Salvation is wielding? Yes she is! This engine is armed with the titan-killing weapon, thanks to a Stompa that is collecting dust. She is also armed with two heavy flamers on the roof and arm as well as a extra close combat weapon.
I stuck with the penitent engine blue print with the dread night by using the reverse leg setup. I also completed this by instead of having a left hand underneath the heavy flamer I used a saw blade, thus find on Penitent engine design.
I have some more holes and cracks to fill on this model before painting begins but I just wanted you all to see this as a fun beginning.
Comments, question, options?
I would love to here what you guys think.

I have never seen a 'Dread knight engine and penitent engine conversation' before, but this is fantastic.
Have you/do you plan to write some rule for in (apoc game maybe?).
It loks great anyway, I'm really excited to see what other treats you churn out!
D
Thanks you cheese for the extremely welcoming compliment for the Engine of Salvation.
I do intend to create a full set of rules for this model so that people may be able to try them out if they like the design or just wish to see what this beast can do.
I have seen a Sisters dread knight before. The ones that I have seen however were just a driver of the penitent engine in the place of the grey knight. I wanted this model to specifically look like a larger variant of the penitent engine. To do this I had to give it two specific items; the heavy flamers, and saw close combat weapon. Both of these you can see on the left hand/ arm and the roof. To give it my own personally touch I made the engine a large version of the Sister Repentia with a Eviscerator.
I warned everyone when I think of a crazy conversation; I go big and will buy or trade for what I need. I purchased a dread knight; I had an Ork stompa, and had an extra pilot in my bitz box. I am still going to convert a superheavy tank and a flier for this project. Those will be in the near future.
Now I most go and paint my Engine
