Just a quick question.

Whats a good color to use to highlight tanks that are based black. Whould i use a darker gray or a light gray what do you think looks better

To many unpainted models to count.

Generally a dark grey along all the edges then use a light grey to pick out where edges come together to form a junction.
Take a look at the GW blog page today as it has some close-up images of the new Ravenwing bikes - this should help explain what I mean.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

I am a personal fan of highlight black with blue. Not many people do it, but when done properly it can look awesome. P3 Coal Black is a nice color to add a little more visual interest to black. I have also had success using turquoise to do it as well. If you look in my gallery, there is a SM Chaplain that I used turquoise to provide a highlight.

Black and grey are fine but never be afraid to try new things.

I highlighted my black tanks with Vallejo Model Air German Grey. It's a very dark grey.

Check out buypainted.com on youtube. Specifically his death company rhino video.

It actually depends on the surrounding and the "mood" you want to convey.

Bluish tint for night.

White for crisp clean look.

Brown for warm surroundings, like fire or in the open ground.

Gray is the boring of all, but it's playing it safe.

Hi !
All answers above are ok. In fact you could highlight black with any color, grey would give a sober result, but you can also for exemple use blue (as suggested) or green, even red. But I would also like to add that for vehicles, using a metallic paint like boltgun or mithril silver to highlight the edges works pretty well on black vehicles.
