I couldn't agree more. I love all the wacky, hand-sculpted Chaos models from this era.

And I love that guys flamey sword.
Thanks! The resistance fighters were a lot of fun to paint. Also, really fast, since they lack all the little gubbins you get on fantasy and/or
SF models.
The theme for this month's Dakka challenge is Finish It. I have pulled a few projects out of demotivational limbo. First, a Frostgrave summoner and apprentice:

I started these models for a previous Dakka Challenge (July 2024, Sidekicks), but got bogged down by my lack of good purples. A couple of months ago, I ordered a four-pack from Vallejo-- eagle-eyed readers may have noticed the change in my palette-- and as a result found the motivation to get these guys done.
I also dug into the Closet of Shame for the next entry in my Chaos Warband sub-project:

I will be relying on the d100 Followers table in Slaves to Darkness to build this little warband. My first roll was for five Beastmen, and these were the only unpainted Beastmen in the box. The sculpts are a little rough (usually referred to as "character," I believe), but the nostalgia vibes are strong.
Finally, the last of the Catachans, which are still
WIP:
The models are painted, but I need to break out the kneadatite and make some details for their bases.
To round out the month, I have some Chaos Thugs for the warband based and ready for paint:
