That is correct. :-). Just got done watching the gameplay vid. Clarified some things for me for sure.

Very excited to play it again this week.

Seriously, mammalian boobs on a reptile? Come on people - I know boobs are meant to sell everything but I am not away of a single reptile that nurses its young - especially reptiles with big ass frikking fangs,

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

As the last 2 people have also said, this has been discussed in the thread before... take a look through and you'll see it makes sense (but understand if it's a reason to not get these).

I for one will not be getting any of the reptiles... I have no need for them and they are the ONLY thing I am not going gaga over. The rest... I need another job STAT!

It's a testament to how fantastically Mierce has done that I went from completely not interested during the first campaign, to following it closely now.

Same here. I skipped the first one, basically shrugging it off as 'nah, too expensive'. But as the updates from KS1 have been rolling out, I've been watching with an ever more intent gleam in my eyes (I think the first thing that really, seriously caught my attention was that frickin Hydra). Now I'm in for £300 based on concept art alone, which I would honestly never do in any other Kickstarter. I just feel really confident that these are going to turn out amazing, and in the unlikely event that I'm unhappy with how these translate from art to miniature, I could easily, so very easily, spend that money on KS1 stuff in their webstore instead.

Expensive?

Yes.

Worth it?

Well, clearly that's an opinion based thing, but for me, hell yes!

All the pictures of actual miniatures plus 'hands on' reports have shown these things to be of the highest quality.

I'm looking forward to receiving my first batch of these things, and I'm excited about where this whole line can go!

Update #20

Oct 14, 2013
Darklands Gameplay Video and Pledge Calculator
1 comment

Following on from yesterday's update and Friday's video, we forgot a couple of things! Namely, the Darklands Gameplay Video and Zedmeister's awesome Pledge Calculator, which you can use to keep track of your pledge.

Darklands Gameplay Video

Last week Tim and Rob played a battle of Darklands, a small one of around 750 gold, between the Ysians and the Fomoraic.

This video shows you a Darklands battle using the latest version of the QuickStarter Rules and illustrates many of the basic rules of the game, from movement to combat to sorcery, and as such we recommend that everybody watches it just to make sure they're playing rules correctly. There's a world of difference between reading rules to understand them and watching rules in play to understand them!

http://www.mierce-miniatures.com/ks2/darklands_kickstarter_2_video.flv

We decided to use miniatures that are professionally painted (which sadly isn't many) to showcase our miniatures better, which restricted us somewhat, so forgive us if both hosts are a little strange.

Here is a quick run-down of both hosts:

Tim Fisher (Ysians)

Seer-Drune, general

5x Brutes, champion, 4x warriors

5x Melusines, champion, banner bearer, musician, 2x warriors

Goad-Drune and Mantichora bound unit

Rob Lane (Fomoraic)

Gabrax Untain on Toracx, general

3x Srónax

1x Tarvox

Enjoy the battle and remember, these are only the QuickStarter rules... there's plenty more to get your teeth into in the full rules!

Zedmeister's Pledge Calculator

The amazing Zedmeister (who in real life is called Zenas) has perpetrated a fantastic Pledge Calculator for this project.

Zedmeister's Pledge Calculator

We urge everybody to check it out and use it!

Lol!

B) could liquidate it by 2pm on Thursday

I would probably think about this more than I really should!

The gabrax concepts look great. They're going to be more human sized, correct?

Indeed. Like these fellas:

Mierce are update happy today!

£130,000 Stretch Goal - Baagath's Herd

£105,000 has been and gone and that means Djiuzu, Dromedus Secundus is now yours to purchase should you wish to (and free to Nobles backers, of course)!

That also means we've another stretch goal for you to aim for. With a bit of upping and getting mates to pledge we should certainly get to £130,000 - so here's the long-awaited Gabrax infantry unit, all on 30mm bases, Baagath's Herd (and yes, we suggest you pronounce that with a sheep-like inflection)!

The Gabrax, of course, are the goat-men of the Fomoraic and both hairy and smelly to boot. Whilst their hygiene may be that of all wild creatures, their society rudimentary and their beliefs primitive, they nevertheless possess a savage cunning and find great joy in battle.

As it states on the graphic, you can purchase the Gabrax in three distinct forms.
a unit of five Gabrax with champion, banner bearer, herald and two warriors
a unit of ten Gabrax with champion, banner bearer, herald and seven warriors
five Gabrax warriors (a random mixture of the Gabrax named Ungaa and Rapraag) to add to the above two options

Just increase your pledge by the amount indicated to grab a Gabrax unit. Thus, if you're after a unit of twenty Gabrax , simply add £115 - £55 for 10x Gabrax and £60 for two sets of five warriors!

The maximum unit size of a Gabrax unit is 20. The minimum is 5. They will be Common units unless led by a Gabrax general, at which point they become Mainstay.

The Gabrax unit will feature as part of an encounter host and a skirmish host once they are unlocked.

Hehe. I'm trying not to get more than the primary faction I bought into (Norse) and enough to run some demos.

Plus one of my buddies has a lot of the Fomoraic stuff and I don't like doubling up.

What does this have to do with anything?

I couldn't even understand what you were talking about.

Regardless.

Gabrax = be still my beating heart. I've been forced to use GW Beastmen as they're the current best on the market, but NOPE thanks Mierce for again one-upping everyone else!

Not looking like I'll get my paypal money in time

Will probably have to lower my pledge to something tiny in the hopes I can play catch up once the surveys roll out.

Will at the very least give their lizardmen commander on foot a spin.

Hopefully we see some sort of kindred deal for the snakes- the mammals have been getting all the stretch goals lately!

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Update #22

Oct 14, 2013
More Unlockable Encounter Hosts!
Comment
2 likes

Hot on the heels of the Gesíthas and Gabrax, infantry units for the Angelcynn and Fomoraic respectively, are a couple more unlockable encounter hosts!

As it states on the graphic, these hosts really do depend upon the stretch goals being reached; but if you pledge for them now, it's much more likely that they'll be unlocked. That's the Kickstarter conundrum!

Please note that these, like the other unlockable encounter hosts, may be included within a "THE SWEET SPOT" reward.

There will of course be more Skirmish and Encounter Hosts when more infantry units become unlocked, so watch for more very soon...

Liking that Angelcynn Encounter host... a lot!
