so why is it that tyranids are the only army that cant fire a gun emplacement? its like the writers at gw just want nids to get the nerf bat and want them to have no AA

Tyranids dont' use weapons like any other race in the game. The ones they do use are part of their bodies, they don't pull triggers to fire them.

Hey it fits nicely with the fluff and makes perfect sense to me.
Maybe when the codex finally gets redone they'll add a skyfire mode to Pyrovores to make them worth taking.

I know 'Nids are suffering at the moment (I rarely use mine) but not being able to use turrets isn't exactly a game breaker.

With 6th and the new Psychic powers, Tyranids are a really good army,

1.) Tyranids can use the automatic fire option of fortifications, just not fire them with their own BS.
2.) Yes, GW hates Tyranids

so if i have an aegis defence line.. with a quad gun can i do anything with the quad gun? i thought you had to be in B2B with it to fire it period

Thats right, you cant fire the quad gun.

What Kroothawk means is that they can use the heavy bolters on the side of the bastion with the automated fire (BS2) option.

Tyrandis had their day in the sun just like every other army did at some point with their last codex and spamming Canifexes. I'm content with not being either the best or the worse right now and seeing what happens.

In a home game you could model bio-fortifications and say that your enemies can't use them! The rules are just a start-point for a fun game narrative, after all.

me and my brother talked about this a bit and the fact they dont have allies we though it would make sense for the nids to get a gen stealer cultist to work weapons like that for the nids or just have guard tau or orks as allies but change them a bit in the nid codex to make them gen stealer cult members.

Don't tell people how to do things, tell them what to do and let them surprise you with their results.

I wish GW hated Tyranids as much as I do... But I'm afraid they don't hate the tyranids any more than they hate any other army. Aside from Grey Knights and new Chaos, all the other armies are pretty well balanced. Even the old ones.

So DE razorwing flocks, Chaos Spawns (if you could get them in position) and Fenrisian wolves could fire the quad gun but tyranids would be unrealistic.

The same reason that DE can pal around with daemonettes and emperors children but someone striking at the same time to take advantage of a tyranid invasion? Ludicrous.

So the answer is yes GW hates tyranids. They almost beat the ultrasmurfs! Unforgivable!

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

What irritates me is the vanilla feeling of the codex, they couldve done so much more with a little bit of inspiration. Like a hormagaunt spawner btw? how hard could it be?

Well, all the guys you've mentioned can't fire Quadgun, they have BS 0 .

Mate tested two Tervigons with Biomancy... in a 450 point game. He said it wasn't funny anymore, what with the enemy being totally chanceless. I imagine they'd be a bit more balanced in a bigger game. ;-)

GW said they'd be aware of Tyranids being in need of an update / a few fixes...guess ya'll have to wait then.

They have the nice plastic hive tyrants, which I might buy if G.W. updates the army. For now they're just too bland for me.

Tyranids don't use things like weapon emplacements because they don't need them they can destroy an enemy without them with ease.

I just hope that in the 6th ed Tyranid codex, or almighty Atheismo forbid, 7th edition codex adds some special Tyranid fortifications.

Nids should just get a slimy version of the Aegis that can fire itself but models can hide in it.

Why would a pyrovore get skyfire? It's a flamer template. If anything it should be a biovores. Just me thinking

The new chaos codex is very balanced. I assume you haven't read the Blood Angels codex then?

There was a rumor that in a WD update Pyrovores would become "Anti-Air"

Honestly "Psychic" Nids is one of the strongest armies you can play around 1750pts imo.

their AA is a bit "weak" in a traditional sense as it's a T6 4 wound IIRC FMC that normally has 6 str 6 twin linked shots.

I could see Pyrovores have an upgrade that turns them into a Skyfire platform. Somthing like a Str7 AP4 shot with Skyfire.

12 Str6 Twinlinked shots - at BS3.

They should have allowed FMCs to assault Flyers, but only hit on a 5+ in melee.

Hmmm, off to the proposed rules forum!
