no probs. The wave 2 stuff is much better. I just assembled my wave 1 stuff by sitting down, putting STTNG on in the background and going one bag at a time

I understand the feelings of pain. I backed Deadzone, and bought a lot through the 1st survey. After the terrible experiences I've had with them regarding customer service, I'm done with them. Nothing I've seen shows me they've improved any since then. Just always time to race on to the next Kickstarter, and try to pick up the pieces from the previous ones.

Welp, I've gone through the pile I showed earlier, as well as the core box. Still to go through the Rebs and Marauders faction boxes or the stapled Enforcer and Forgefathers "starter" bags, but it's time for a break. Thanks again to Doug for that link.

So far I'm missing 2 figures, have 2 miscast components and a missing head - and the aforementioned 3 missing rulebooks. Yay, Mantic!

On a more positive note - the terrain looks good, the plastic zombies are a huge step up from the MAA, and comparable to their original Fantasy Zombies (though I think the Renedra Zombies are slightly finer in detail). Add-on dice seem a little cheap compared to my usual chessex ones, and I got a bad batch where the red-black dice, etc are mostly black (unlucky) - bet it turns out these are chessex(!). Rulebook is lovely, which just pisses me off more that my others aren't here, and the mouse-mats are very nice quality. Though with my MA stuff coming it turns out I didn't need to buy so many...

Any opinions on the acrylic counters? These card ones aren't the best, and they're all off-centre.

Runnin up on ya.

Starting to go through my wave two stuff and here are a few thoughts:
1. I like the labeled bags.
2. They really need to update the kickstarter mission control on their website because it lists things as pending that are in my box and doesn't have assembly instructions for everything.
3. Still missing stuff. It's not as terri-bad as Wave 1 but it also doesn't give me much hope for future dealings with Mantic if this is the best that they can do with as much money as they received.
4. Material still doesn't like my files; flash has a tendency to bend and flatten rather than tear free from the model.

Final thoughts (I know there are still a couple of things pending that I'll get within the next couple of months):

Mantic is a fledgling business that has taken to the crowd-sourcing platform of Kickstarter quite well. Unfortunately, they do not appear to have the professional capability to handle the amount of demand generated by their KSs. I know they aren't much different from other companies that have their roots in KS; however, unlike a number of these, Mantic didn't start this way. Mantic has actually lowered their standards and quality when I compare current releases to the initial, plastic undead line.

They seem more focused on releasing quantity rather than quality. It is for this reason that I will no longer take my business to them nor will I recommend my friends and acquaintances do so. It's unfortunate because they truly do have some good ideas but I can't be bothered to continually deal with missing merchandise and questionable quality from a business; I have the resources to pay for quality and I suppose I will take my business to those companies more willing to provide it.

/commentary.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm excited for another Deadzone expansion and the possibility of even more hard plastic stuff. This time around though, I'd like to see them add some new Corporate Marines to the mix to oppose the Veer-Myn.

Has anyone else noticed that the KS Landing Pad battlezone doesn't have the same contents as the retail version?

Like what? Examples please

KS bag is labeled and contains: 3x Landing pad A, 3x Landing pad B, 1x Defence A, 1x Defence B, 1x Connectors

Retail contains: 4x Landing pad A, 2x Landing pad B, 1x Defence A, 2x Defence B, 2x Connectors

The KS zone can't make the large landing pad depicted in the Mantic store because it doesn't come with enough squares or 3" defence line pieces

With 3 boardgame plastic KS in a row chances are we'll get either that or hard plastic from here on? Pref. hard plastic of course since they seem to have improved the quality from their new supplier though still having some troubles.

There isn't a more expensive sci fi line out there that I like more than Mantic's, on the whole. (There are plenty I like bits and pieces of, though.) My personal taste.

I've been going through my box of stuff and am far from finished, although it's actually a relatively modest haul this time around. So far I've found one broken figure (the thin staff held by the Asterian commander.)

It's quite possible I'll turn up more missing / broken figures, but so far things are looking very, very good. The restic figures (bar a few Plague pinheads - I'm looking at you, mortar team) generally look excellent, if time consuming to clean as usual. (No worse than before, probably better in most cases, but having worked with this stuff since Wave 1 I'm no sucker and am not expecting a walk in the park. I am willing to put in the time to get good results, though, including heavily modding the very few figures I don't like. So I guess I am a sucker.)

I only got one metal figure - the Sorak Swordspawn - because I'd previously bought a metal Peacekeeper captain and had been disappointed with the casting quality. I'm happy to say that the Swordspawn looks really good; so much so that I may buy more metal character models if they reappear on the third survey at a reasonable price relative to retail. (That's the trick this time around. I don't imagine Mantic will sell many individual starters for $35 when they're easily had for $28 online, sometimes with shipping included, although the 2 for $50 deal remains good.)

I'm also very pleased with my resins: the Stuntbot, Rebs commander, and Plague 1st Gen. Very crisp, no flaws, and miracle of miracles, no small delicate bits snapped off during packing or transport!, unlike, say, my last delivery from Studio McVey. I was leaning towards just leaving my $1 pledge for DKQ at $1, since fantasy isn't my thing anyway, but now I think I'll have to pick up a couple of resins as I'm so impressed with these.

I got the hardback and slipcased Veteran's edition softcover books. None were packaged in an individual box, which would have been nice. All somehow came through without any crimping or other damage anyway.

Hard plastic terrain and zombies look excellent. Got the right number of sprues.

Pet peeves so far outside of the snapped Astarian commander's staff are minor. I remain slightly annoyed that figures driving vehicles (the Dwarf cyclists, the Strider pilots, Asterians are the exception) are tiny compared to their trooper counterparts; the average Forge Father, Plague 3rd Gen, etc., couldn't fit inside these vehicles. Remember how the Stormrage Veterans were small compared to the Steel Warriors? Well, the Veterans are burly brutes compared to the guy in the cycle. So's Freya, for that matter, who wears no armor like the cyclist but, excuse the downright hilarious pun, "dwarfs" him anyway. ha. Regardless, I still think the new FF minis, including the bike riders, are great models.

I'm sorry to hear that anyone's had a bad experience, and my good fortune is not a commentary on anyone else's hard luck. But for what it's worth, I'm very pleased with what I received, and feel like I got a tremendous deal out of this KS. No regrets. It'll probably take me about 2 more years to get all of this stuff assembled and painted, but I'm enough of a Veer-myn freak that I'll be signing on for the DZ 2 campaign anyway.

I figure they would still do restic specialists for a dead zone project, maybe hard plastic core. Maybe.

It's better to use a knife on restic, to cut the flash away than use a file.

Also, sometimes dunking them in hot water will help.

Incidentally, my missing battlezone/connectors are yet to show up, over a week since I was told they were sent*.

* To be fair, the email was a generic "we have sent 1 package" one, but I can't think what else it would be.

I'm very glad now I'm waiting on just 2 things from Mars Attacks (mat and terrain), 5 things from DBX (KS exclusives, S4 book, card deck and scenery pack) and 2 things from DKQ (hardback book and undead resin characters). I have no plans to add any 'wave 3' stuff onto my pledge for Deadzone.

And, as if to make a fool out of me, the missing terrain bits turned up one day after I decided to complain.

So all in all it was just over 2 weeks from submitting the form to getting the parts, not too bad given it was done whilst wave 2 bundles were still going out.

I don't have either. Although I am at the mercy of Aus post who mostly act like they're auditioning for a Three Stooges movie.

What was required for the slipcased edition of the softcovers?

Mine arrived in melbourne a few days ago all in tact (in a box twice the size required, but never mind). Only thing missing is the enforcer pathfinders rifle from inside the bag! So not bad at all...

I'm pretty sure the slipcased softcovers were for pledging $300 or above during the campaign. I think there was originally going to be just one book, then they split the softcovers into three books + the slim zombie campaign insert (staple-bound), then they said they would do a slipcase for the three instead of making them one large book.

Anyhow, the slipcase wasn't a separate deal from the three books. If you qualified for the softcovers, you'll be getting the slipcase.

The slipcase itself is a nice way to keep them together, but it's fairly flimsy. So nothing to get too excited about.

The only thing I have left to inspect are the walkers, and so far in my large order I've not had a missing part or a miscast, closest is one broken and one bent to the point of snapping Goblin sniper rifle, for which I doubt I'm going to ask for replacements.

The other thing, in my Forge Father starter I seem to have received a regular Brokkr instead of a Brokkr with muspell rifle. Since there's no statistical difference, I'm debating whether or not I'll do anything about that either.

Gone through all my mini bags now and it seems I'm missing a single brokkrs arm which I'll have to submit for.

I was hoping to see the other plastic sprues separately on the third survey, I could definitely do with another 5 or 6 enforcer sprues to make up an army.

With news of a new mini dz ks coming soon I really hope we get some corporation plastics along with a 3rd gen plague kit, they could really set the ground work for the warpath ks which I think will be pretty huge.

I think it's clever to get all the basic infantry out in plastic before a Warpath KS happens, that way that one can be all about vehicles (with the basic pledges being 'army deals' the same way that Kings of War did).

^Me too...

Considering not putting any money into the BS fantasy terrain at all (kept a pound in to get the pledge manager), since I know there's a wave 3 survey and potential DZ "mini" kickstarter coming this year.

I'm getting less and less concerned with volume, but any DZ KS is likely to have me going for 'one of everything+' like I did on the original.

For a DZ2 KS, I'll think about anything that is 'hard plastic'. Especially terrain.

But other than that...
