This is a cool blog! Subbed and checking out your other blog too. I don't think you need to grab those forgeworld Thallax yet, your own conversions are great... but they are always good for parts! That's the beauty of AdMech conversions, you get to just pull things apart and re-arrange them

Suspense......tada
I think I'll have to rework the legs some - make it slightly taller and thinner at the "pelvis" to give the arms more room to operate. Anyway, it's a very early mockup, but not you at least know which direction it heading.

Really like the direction this is taking

A thing that came in my mind... If You do a couple of very long harms, orangutan style, You don't need to shave the pelvis and is a very useful machine for heavy jobs at strange and difficult angles/reach

This is mental looking It has that crazy 50 sci fi movie feel almost to it but with a more modern feel creepy.

I think if you lengthen the legs as mentioned I think this will add to the feel even more so, loving this so far

Thanks guys really glad you like it so far, I guess lots of things will be subject to changes still.

@selvaggio Saky: I was thinking long arms my self and I do not thing I'll reshape the pelvis actually, but perhaps slightly change the fixpoint of the legs.

@ldd &viktor: I wasn't really planning on extending the legs, as I agree that to long legs would be wrong (speaking strictly for this robot not any IRL issue). I was thinking about moving the legs a bit further down and create a new fixpoint. I was also planning on adding more "toes" to the feet, as I think it would topple over in a second with the feet it has now.

See your point but don't forget this is 40k, IRL the heads of the humans would break under the weight and size compared to there necks

Are you using Guitar wire No no no no use either Zinge Industries wire or Dragon Forge cables, bend without any distortion or gaps well worth the investment

Looking good Manus! I love the sci fi feel you've got going on with the walker, it is coming together really nicely, may i ask what you intend to do with it? game or just the joy of building? :-)

Sorry sorry sorry - will never happen again - or perhaps I shall stay mount up all my anarchism and continue anyway . I actually just bought some of the wire from Zinge, it wasn't the size I wanted here though - and as I haven't used it yet I cannot say how it works, but having felt it I fail to see why it wouldn't also create the same gaps, as is the main problem with guitarwire.
And with regards to DF - I did look on their website yesterday to order some, but a service notice said there was around 14 days turnaround on orders, and I simply couldn't wait that long. I also tried making some thick greystuff cables, but I couldn't bendt them sufficient and still make the glue stick, I also tried pinning them but they were to thin to drill without damaging the cablesurface.

Thanks a lot. Mostly I just build, but a couple of times a year I actually get to game with my minis - so at some point all these will get on the table.

LOL the wire from Zinges has more give so you only get a slight gap between the ringlets, as with guitar wire there is more restrain so when you bend it the resistance causes rings to pull rather than bend.

DF that is a while to wait, but they usually dispatch really quickly

It was only to offer a better finish for your models not as a real criticism more a helpful gesture

No worries, I know and I do not get offended easily so please do never hesitate with suggestions or criticism. I also do appreciate both irony and sarcasm by the way - yes I'm that old.

I think I'm going to order some of that DF stuff been wanting to try it for years. The thing holding me back are stories about how much the danish postal service sometimes add in taxes on parcels coming from the US of A

Lookie - I used the Zinge wire Quite honestly I didn't experience much difference between that and a thin guitarwire. I would easily believe there would be a difference with larger diameters.

The Assault Engines are equipped with a huge glaive, and though I've planned to use both chainsaws, piston driven drills and such, I figured It would be in place to kit at least one out with an actual glaive. So once again cutting up some Dreadknight bits I ended up with this. Biscuit to the first to spot where the small vents are from!

Easy give me the biscuit it is the Anvil Industry back pack vent come on try harder, also I believe the end of the Glaive is the Zinge Cog sprue am I correct then

Nice work on the Glaive like the holes that little bit of detail really lifts the mini, I think you have the old Zinge cables their ( but could be wrong ) as I thought the new ones were silver.

Here ya go: correct on the cog as well!

Well I'll have a word with Zinge then - only just received them last week

@Manus - Looking awesome!

@LDD the newer wires are copper coloured. the smallest wires are a little softer than guitar wire have a lot les spring and crucially have a big enough wrapping wire that can be painted without losing detail.

Cheers

Kit
