Charging Orc Boar Boy
|
So I just finished my first Necron ghost ark. It wins my award for the biggest pain in the butt to put together. I have put together an painted so many different kits its silly but none was as big a pain as this. My least favorite models to put together are as fallows
1. Ghost ark
2. Ork Trukk
3. Doomsday ark
4. Storm Raven Gunship
5. Thunder Wolf Calvary
What are your top five?
|
Stikk bommas are special among ork society for one reason - They know when you pull the pin out of a stikk bomb you throw the bomb not the pin!

I really enjoyed putting the Ork Trukk I have together, strangely. A lot of it's construction made sense to me, but I do love it's little 'common sense' vehicle design. The chassis is expecially lovely.
As for my worst model to put together?
Probably a metal/plastic Shrieker Jetbike when I had one many years ago.
I did not know the wonders of pinning.

Stormravens from my experience are TERRIBLE, nothing holds together and starts coming apart way too quickly.
Just finished building 9 Obliterators and while their bodys are fine, attaching all their little guns and blades to their hands was aggravating.

I have built a few TFC, both the old metal ones and the new finecast ones, and it wins hands down for me. A close second is the old land speeders, for the same reasons Ferrum_Sanguinis stated for the Stormraven.

The fiddly bits that go on the inside of a drop pod.
All of the 4-part pistons on my Warhound Titan that goes on each "toe" where you have to cut 2 pieces from each piston set to the right length or it won't fit, but cut too much and they won't line up at all...

I gotta agree with you on the Obliterators........I have 6 myself and putting those little guns on those dudes is quite ridiculous......theres gottttta be a better way for them to mold that.......I can only imagine how many times those things are going to fall off.
Also landspeeders arent the hardest thing in the world to assemble after putting together one or two.......but the design in general is poor......the fact that you have to pretty much bend and squeeze the plastic to get it together is kinda stupid.

I can see it now....Nids are now a collection of autonomous hive fleets there are multiple Hive Minds and they all war with one another in addition to everyone else. They speak to humans using telepathy, and they can now ally with Space Wolves as battle brothers, because reasons.
Tyranids talking to humans would be like you talking to your mashed potatoes or the probiotic in your kiefer drink. It is neither possible nor productive. Inside my mind I pinched my nipples and savored his bitter silence.

My old metal bloodthirster. I think it was a miscast, because the wings didn't fit on properly. It also didn't help that they were super heavy, and even with a pin in them they kept falling off. I finally got it built last week, after much chopping and extra pinning... after 8 years.

they are really just pains in the butt to the point where I have alarge ork army and yet still only 3 bikes in it
have had them come off the stands so had to cut holes in the stands to put the tyres thru and had one where the arm would not marrie up and hold the handle at same time may have been a miss cast but eveerything that couldhave went wrong when putting them together did and even hated painting them it was just an all and all bad experiance which I wont repeat even if they are useful in the game

I'm surprised so many people have trouble with drop pods. Outside of basic marines, that was the easiest thing I've ever assembled. And I've done 3 bought at different times. For me the hardest thing was a ghost ark or space marine land speeders. I have 3 land speeders and they all came with the exact same problem. The top part you put on with the cockpit divider were all corkscrewed and I don't have a heat gun to easily untwist them. So I had to pin and over glue the crap out of the Inside. By my 3rd one I had it down to where I didn't need to green stuff a gigantic gap.

Although I have no experience in the specific kit, I'm going to go out on a limb and say the old metal Thunderhawk. I'm sure better men than me have died trying to put such a thing together.
Although, from personal experience, my vote has to go to Ghazzy (metal). Big ol' Ork just did not want to stay in one piece for the longest time.

I've said it once, I'll say it again. The Penitent Engine was probably the most difficult model to put together simply for how much pinning I had to do.
