How similar will this be to the tabletop? Or will it be drastically different?

2 things

1) You have 3 one line question threads on page one of this subforum...maybe you should try for just one constantly updated "fables question thread" or something?

2) It is a turn based game using units and what not from the table top, so that much is similar, but some things will be quite different. For example squads you don't buy, you just buy 1 Trencher for Cygnar instead of a unit of 6/10. I'm not sure just how detailed it is in terms of hitting and what not (simulated dice, you take control wrath unleashed style, not sure).

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

It's a grid based tactical game, in the vein of X-Com and similar games. It will have quite a few features in common (feats, spells and focus seem reasonably similar), but a lot will be different (no units, only solos, jacks will have normal HP not a damage grid, models will be upgradeable with skill points RPG style). So it's really not going to be a direct copy of the game at all, it'll be it's own thing and stand on it's own merits.

That said, I'm hoping it'll scratch my WM itch when it comes out, because I don't get to play nearly as much as I'd like to.

Its not going to be much like the TT at all. So its not a substitute. Just another way to get your IK fix in.

Its going to play a lot like X-com from what I've seen of it.

Its not going to scratch the same itch as the TT game for sure, but if you need some Iron Kingdom smackdown it'll be there.

That's...a bummer. I didn't know it wasn't going to follow the tabletop. I mean I'm sure it will be enjoyable, but now I won't be buggered to make a map (if they ever release a map creator) that looks like a plywood table with cardboard terrain to give it that realistic look.

You should still do it, just because it would be hilarious.
