A question I think a lot of us have been wondering, given how much lore and how many (old, but nice) models exist for them, yet they have no full complete Codex, yet are, as far as I know, a legal, fully playable faction in Table Top (and even in DOW Soulstorm for that matter) game. From what little I know related to the Sisters on their rules and units, is that all of their rules, for lack of a better term what "makes up their codex" is spread through a bunch of articles from White Dwarf magazine, and other "official" releases from Games Workshop.

My question is, do you think the Sisters will ever (and I say that will all my pent up orky-ness EVAR ) get a "no holds bar" fully done Codex of their own any time soon? If so do you think the Sisters models will go from metal to resin/plastic models like other armies have? Truth be told heresy if there ever was any, I honestly think Half Life Episode 3 will come out before Sisters of Battle get an GW errant Codex...

By the will of Russ and the Allfather, I hope I'm wrong...

At the rate that GW are release new codexes and models there going to eventually have to do sisters. I'm saying within 2 to 3 years.

Yeah I would imagine 2015 we will see a 7th edition sisters codex. Our first real book since 3rd. oh what a glorious day that will be. And that same year the 40k mmo will come out and it won't be awful. What a glorious year.

When in doubt burn it, then burn yourself for doubting.

Sorry to burst your bubble dude, but the MMO got put on indefinite suspension/canceled ever since THQ's heresy of greed finally caught up to them. Unless someone else picked it up with the intention to do it "right 'n proppa".

They will likely be last or second to last, being the least played faction (or is that de?). Which is a shame, if they had plastics and a new codex id likely start an allied detachment for my guard.

now Codex: Adepta Sororitas

Legal, playable and with a 6th Ed Codex (its digital only cureently) - apparently it sold well so hopefully that means a printed version in 2014..... I am happy with the current models (although not the prices) but some new ones would be great as well.

The current Codex has some very nice / effective units - Exorcists, Dominons etc.

Yep. In fact, GW have actively tried to do so in the past, but were held up by technical difficulties, according to developer comments:

He did stress that they really wanted to crack on with Sisters, but that they had been causing them technical difficulties for quite some time.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/328983.page

Oh yeah, one last thing about the Sisters of Battle. According to Phil Kelly, the reason why they never got plastic minis was because they couldn't be plastic moulded by the current process. He wasn't really sure what the issue was, but there was something about the sculpt which meant that it could only be cast in metal.

http://natfka.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/sisters-of-battle.html

And, apparently, this was said at Enter the Citadel a while ago:
A couple of these ones got some further points. It was mentioned that originally there had been a technical problem with developing Sisters plastics, but that Games Workshop would now have the technology to be able to do them.

http://the-responsible-one.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/enter-citadel-ask-audience-we-want-to.html

One other relevant point here is that their 6E digital codex sold very well, so there's clearly ample financial motivation for such a thing to happen.

I'd call it the first real book since 2E, even, given that 3E was shared with the Ordo Hereticus. Just my outlook on it, though. But yes, it shall indeed be a glorious day.

Not necessarily. A big model update would likely change that.

 phatonic wrote:

Though Sisters are on the list of factions that they want to add later, and in this interview, the lead developer noted that they were one of the three most requested factions to be added. So, if all goes well, we should see them in said MMO at some point.

The "6th" codex that SoB got was not a real codex if anyone bothered to read it...

It is an FAQ that updated the WD codex to bring it in line with 6th edition rules, BUT we were charged full codex price for it. Nothing new was added, options remained the same, it is not a new codex. It is a poorly done FAQ but even still my Sisters are my favorite army still.

I'm actually not sure GW will ever get around to updating them - I would much rather see Forge World do a totally new line of models with a bunch of new units and much more variety and an updated army list. They're one of the two factions still in dire need of an Imperial Armour feature and they're just the sort of niche army Forge World does well, I would love to see a bunch of awesome new FW sculpts.

Probably won't happen any time soon though, Forge World are too busy with the Horus Heresy series for that. Still, a man can dream!

They already have their own Codex.

A product of such low quality that brings great shame to GW, indeed, but there is a Codex.

I get your point, though. I just wanted to stress the point.

I hope they get a proper Codex soon, but my faith gets weaker with every shame-update-minicodex they get.

Nope. It was far more than an FAQ update, really bewildered whenever people make that comparison. And plenty of new stuff was added:

- New faith system
- Relics
- Warlord traits
- Tweaked rules and points
- Apoc Missions
- Alter of War missions
- More fluff
- More artwork, with the front cover being an all-new piece (with even some other armies using recycled pics)

 da001 wrote:

I disagree. Tactically, it's an improvement overall, giving us far more options and making several units stronger or useful. The fluff, while largely recycled, is still good, and the new fluff in there is all good stuff.

But if your issue is with it being digital-only and utilising recycling, I'd point out that a big, full-on update would be better saved for when they do a proper model update. Until then, this is still far better than the situation we had with the WD codex.

But I was honestly unaware that had something akin to a full Codex, all the research I've done scantly over the last few years has yielded "they have one, sorta, it's kind of a Codex. but it's not..." seems I'm a bit behind the times, but still they don't have a printed Codex, so I guess probably why 70% of my searching failed, gotta love Google...

Still, is this digital one free to download like the Kill Team one? Or is something you have to buy? (Nothing new for anyone of the fandom, I'm sure... lol)

It was only publicized on the GW homepage for a few weeks to a month with artwork and all sorts of Sisters-related stuff. How someone missed the release of Codex: Adepta Sororitas is beyond me, unless they only went to Google.

And it is, indeed, a full 6th Ed Codex. This is much, much more than the 2 WD blocks and a FAQ update.

Why someone would go to the GW website monthly is beyond me.

In no way is the SoB book a full codes though. It has a very
Limited selection of units, doesmnot compare in size to any of the full 6th edition codexes, is not available in print, and came with none of the new models found with a full codex release.

It updates the 5th edition Mini-dex to 6th, bulked it up a bit, buffed a few units, nerfed a few units, and made some questionable rules calls. Overall it is closer to a codex release than the WD was, but that's not saying a lot. It's not even in the same league as actual codex releases.

It is the closest to a real codex that we have had since 2nd edition, so there's that.

Welcome to the Sisterhood.

"Codex release" does not automatically mean "new models" anyway... but the Sisters have not had new models longer than many posters on these boards have been alive.

is not available in print

Download book. Click "Print". Done.
The fact that it is currently digital-only is a very poor justification for saying it's "not a Codex". That's.... very neckbeardy. As e-readers catch on, more and more publications are going to become digital-only, as the costs of printing a physical book only go up.

Make no mistake, the Sisterhood has been a faction long-forgotten by GW and receiving only token updates (if that!) for a very, very long time.

That GW put even this amount of effort into a product centered on them is nothing short of miraculous.

I like Codex: Adepta Sororitas.

It's sufficient. It lets me fill out the force organisation chart with a powerful list of units that can take on anything shy of the flying bakery (because we do lack anti-air). It has characterful and unique units, it has powerful units, it has fluffy but not overpowered special characters...

Of course I want more. I want more options, I want a flier or two, I want plastic models to convert and so on, but for now, I'm satisfied.

Even if I did have to spend two weeks looking for my kindle (only to eventually find it in a box disguised as a book with a fleur de lys on the spine...) when it came out.

That's us. It seems now that Sisters' players are conditioned to expect less, so now we are satisfied with less. While I too dared to be excited, I like this new codex less than the last. Thanks to disappearing minis we actually have less units than before and further the designers don't seem to actually play the game or at least understand how it is played. That's how you get shooting armies that receive mediocre buffs in close combat. Clearly they wanted to sell those priest models

I don't play sisters but from what I have seen they are good, not great when compared to eldar. But it was a real codex (digitally released which I think is stupid as hell and makes me hate GW more) It really got integrated well into 6th edition and I see they are best played as allies or they can be your main detachment and ally guard and now inquisition.

Its about strategy and how good of a general and player you are at the game. That's one of the biggest faults of eldar is their units are so good that is why certain people win and they have no skill.

Yeah...it's kinda like that.
