From whom are unforgiven we bring the mercy of war.
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.
"You need not fear us, unless you are a dark heart, a vile one who preys on the innocent; I promise, you can’t hide forever in the empty darkness, for we will hunt you down like the animals you are, and pull you into the very bowels of hell." Iron - Within Temptation

Written by the team of former Special Operations warriors who run SOFREP.com, here is the definitive account of what happened before, during, and after the deadly Benghazi attack.
On September 12th, 2012, Brandon Webb learned Glen Doherty, one of his closest friends and his former Navy SEAL teammate, was killed alongside Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and two other Americans when the U.S. State Department and CIA headquarters in Benghazi, Libya, were sieged in a shocking terrorist attack. For the next four months, Webb and his team at SOFREP.com, the world's premier Special Ops website, embarked on a relentless investigation to understand exactly what happened to their countrymen, as well as the roles played by the Obama administration, State Department, and CIA. Drawing on unmatched sources, they spoke to individuals who would talk to no one else, including fellow Special Operations team members familiar with the African theatre, and well-placed contacts in the Washington intelligence community. This is their report--an unforgettably gripping minute-by-minute narrative of the events and their aftermath as they really unfolded on that terrible day in Libya.

And that's a bingo.

Also, this.

You won't look at Open Houses the same way again. This book has bizarre characters and some really funny, if dark, humor.
The Land of Laughs by Jonathan Carroll
I don't even know where to begin describing this one. It is creepy. More so if you are in to the horror genre with some surreal moments.
Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
A wonderfully funny and bizarre story of a anti-social "neck beard" with IBS living with his mother in New Orleans. Great characters and some fantastic dialog can be found in this gem.
The Damned trilogy, by Alan Dean Foster. (Starts with A Call to Arms.)
One of the greatest sci-fi stories ever. I love fiction where human beings aren't the baseline race, with some aliens being stronger than us but dumber, or another race being better at science than us but with no advances in art. I like that in this trilogy, humans are just head and shoulders above everyone else. We don't have their tech, necessarily, but once exposed to it we can learn it and use it as easily as if we'd invented it. It's a truly remarkable book series.
Dune, if you've never read it. It's a classic for a reason.
I recently finished an H.P. Lovecraft collection that I thoroughly enjoyed having never read his work before it was pretty awesome.
Kilkrazy made a reference to "1984" in one of those "Britain is a fascist state" type threads which spurred me on to actually go out and read it. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I'm now reading "Keep the Aspidistra Flying" by Orwell and enjoying that also.

Ahh. 1984. Its a great story. A real Punch in the gut story.
HP Lovecraft is misused nowadays and even cults have started from it. It is very creative that is all I can say

I'll keep it short. I could post a long list, but if I had to pick, say, three books from my library:
Dune, by Frank Herbert
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams
The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien
Of course, those are the three that I though of just now. Ask me again tomorrow and I'll probably think of a different three.
"Through the darkness of future past, the magician longs to see.
One chants out between two worlds: Fire, walk with me." - Twin Peaks
"You listen to me. While I will admit to a certain cynicism, the fact is that I am a naysayer and hatchetman in the fight against violence. I pride myself in taking a punch and I'll gladly take another because I choose to live my life in the company of Gandhi and King. My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method... is love. I love you Sheriff Truman." - Twin Peaks
Just about anything by Kurt Vonnegut, but some highlights are:
Slaughterhouse Five
Cat's Cradle
The Sirens of Titan
Breakfast of Champions
Man Without a Country
Nineteen Eighty-Four - George Orwell (I read it about once a year)
Catch-22 - Joseph Heller
If on a winter's night a traveler - Italo Calvino
Divine Comedy - Dante Alighieri
The Myth of Sisyphus & The Stranger - Albert Camus
If you are interested in the history of America's early space program, I recommend Failure Is Not an Option by Gene Kranz (former NASA Flight Director) and Carrying the Fire: An Astronaut's Journeys by Michael Collins (Gemini 10 pilot and Apollo 11CSM pilot).
Also, any books from Michio Kaku, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Carl Sagan (especially The Dragons of Eden, The Demon-Haunted World, and Pale Blue Dot).
