Trenchworx designs and manufactures high quality scale models for games and hobby enthusiasts.

The inspiration for our company began in July of 2013 when we wondered if we could create models for our favorite table top war games using our 3D printers. Like most miniature manufacturers, it started with that simple statement, "Wouldn't it be cool to have..." We began the experiment with a T34/76 turret to go on one of our models. Next was a Sherman 105 and Calliope turret. After a couple of weeks of modeling and printing various items, we thought, "Nuts to turrets—let’s build a tank!" A week later, we had a brand new Jagdpanther (‘cause why start small?). That same Jagdpanther can be seen on our Home page and is still a favorite. Since the first tank rolled off the line, we have designed, printed, and shipped hundreds of new models to customers around the world. The amazing support of the internet community motivated us to launch Trenchworx and continue growing our business.

Earlier this year, we began experimenting with various combinations of 3D printing and resin casting and have developed a system which produces very high quality and detailed 28mm resin tanks, tank accessories, and vehicles. We are proud to kick off the first wave of these new miniatures in time to celebrate the centennial anniversary of The Great War. To get things started, we have chosen one tank from three major nations involved in the conflict:

1. The experimental German A7V — one of the most unique designs in AFV history.
2. The formidable British MkV, which saw service with many nations during the conflict.
3. The French FT tank with its rotating turret, which swarmed the battlefields and forever changed the future of armored warfare.

Looks like at this rate I'll be adding a Rolls to my pledge soon.

Agreed. I'm not really looking to play games with these, I just like the idea of having one.

Though the Rolls will come in handy for certain pulp-themed games.

Looks cool. Don't think I can resist a MkV at that price. Wish they posted some pics with a 28mm figure though.

So far the magnets (free with all FT-17's and MKV's), two alternate turrets for the FT-17 (Add-on pledges that cost a whopping $4 each), coasters (for all pledges over $25) and Rolls Royce armoured car ($25 add-on) have been unlocked. Maybe we should ask a mod to move this to News and Rumours for more coverage?

I pledged for the A7V and will probably add on an FT at the end. I don't even have any WWI miniatures - the A7V alone is too cool of a tank not to own.

Im getting 10 Mk Tanks to use as chimeras for my next project. With some minor counts as it has all the bits for the job.

Finding it hard to resist those french tanks. I absolutely love the tankette style and it looks a lot like my Japanese tanks.

Very cool.

I usually stick to KS of companies I know. Has anyone bought from Trenchworx before? How is the detail of their sculpts?

I've played games with the owner of the company, and seen these models first hand. I don't know about him as a business owner (having only played with him twice), but the 3D prints were pretty darn good. I've got one of their chemical mortars and it was very well done.

A tad expensive for my tastes, but the quality of sculpt was there.

On time, on target, or the next one's free

Thanks. That's good to know. Do you know if their resin is as warped as FW? Or is there better quality control?

I saw the masters (the 3D prints), but I did not see the resin versions. He had the molds in the making at the time we were down there.

UPDATE TIME IS HAPPY TIME YES - News and Reviews - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/610277926/tanks-of-wwi-in-28mm-by-trenchworx/posts/945063

Good Morning,

I hope this finds everyone well and looking forward to the weekend. Earlier this week we crossed the $10,000 mark for our kickstarter. The Crossley Tender has been unlocked and is available as an ADD ON to your pledge for $25 or as a direct swap for an FT17. Several people have already picked up the French Squadron or Second Battle of the Marne pledge levels with the intent to swap some FT17s for a Rolls Royce and a Crossley Tender.

Nate completed the Rolls Royce mold designs yesterday and we are printing them this weekend. We should see our first casts by mid-week. Work on the Crossley Tender has already started and may print before next weekend.

The first review of our World War 1 tanks are up. You can find the review here. Thanks c-baxs for the detailed description and pictures.

Finally, we have about 23 days to go and are very busy casting product so we can ship as soon as the kickstarter ends. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask. I'll leave you with a parting shot of the FT17 inspection station. Thanks again for your support!

Dave

I love how competent these guys are! Already they're hard at work FULFILLING PLEDGES before the timer has even run out!

The FT tanks have incredible detail. I may have to get some of them too.

Sheesh, these kick starter things are addictive.

Hi All,

I just noticed this thread and want to thank everyone here for the great support and interest.

@Jehan-reznor - Thanks for the thread post. Rabid Monkey and I (dsbaker4au on other forums) appreciate it.

@ BrookM - Thanks for the kind words. We are doing our best to communicate our progress and keep people up to date and at the same time not be overbearing.

@infinite_array - Thanks for the pledge. I attached a pic of the resin A7V I painted this morning. I left this one so the main gun could swivel!

@Maniac_nmt - I'm glad the mortar worked out for you. We will see if we can get one of those FT17s in your hands to have a gander at the next time we meet up.

@Fugazi - Our casts are to spec and look great.

@Swastakowey - The FTs are awesome and would look great on your gaming table!

I'm going to attach a couple of sneak peaks I've been sitting on a couple of days just for this forum. One is the 28mm MkV painted prototype with some 6mm prints and the other is the A7V I finished this morning.

Enjoy...

Oooh, are these future stretch goals? Because if so, would you mind if I posted these in the main news and rumours thread?

These little guys are something we've been toying around with. We don't have plans to include them in the kickstarter. Sounds like they might be welcomed though.

We 3D print all of our models for a while before converting to resin. We can scale the models to any size at print. So 15mm, 1/72 scale, 30mm, 40mm are all possible for everything we produce. A few of us play some various 6mm games and thought it would be fun to scale the MkV down and see how it looked. They turned out pretty good and even the guns didn't break off. This might be one of those fun treats for epic or blitzkrieg commander players. They may even end up being a future skunkworx project in 2015! Let me know if you could think of any uses for these in a 6mm format though.

And, well the A7V is going to sit in our display case for a while. I'm thinking about doing another but as an orkified ride from my grots. Just for fun of course!

Thanks again for all the interest and excitement!

New update: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/610277926/tanks-of-wwi-in-28mm-by-trenchworx/posts/948559

Newly Painted Resin and a New Review

Good Morning,

We hope everyone had a great weekend. We crossed the $11,000 level earlier today and are approaching the Schneider CA1 at a pretty good clip. A new review of the MkV has been posted and you can find it here. Thanks Dave o War for the shipping test and compliments. I have to admit I had goosebumps reading the final paragraph. Everyone here was smiling ear to ear in our morning meeting.

Nate pulled the molds off the printer this morning and we hope to have some new casts of the Rolls in the next couple of days. If there are no issues, we should see some pics later this week. I'll be headed to Gencon on Wednesday and will have some un-assembled tanks in my back pack if you want to meet up and have an in-person gander at the models, drop us a line at service@trenchworx.com and I'll see if we can schedule a meet.

Finally, I'll leave you with a few shots of some resin A7Vs that Paul and I painted this weekend. Oh, and yes, these guys are super fun to put together.

Enjoy!

Dave

Looking at doing the x3 FT-17. Are there any good rules for ww1 style tabletop? Or would the bolt-action rules work with this?
