per a recent podcast interview, ADB said Sigismund's fate will be revealed in book 2 or 3 of the Black Legion series. The general context is
Spoiler:
The Legions have been locked away in the Eye for centuries, to the point where the rest of the Imperium has assumed them destroyed let them fade into myth. The exception is the Black Templar, under the command of Sigismund, who have kept vigil over the Eye, anticipating the return of Chaos. And return they do, in the 1st Black Crusade. The Imperium is completely unprepared, the Black Templar under Sigismund's direct command are the only one available to stop them. ADB then said he had a big speech planned out for Sigismund to give Abaddon about how on the last day at the Imperial Palace Sigismund searched the battlefield high and low for Abaddon, intent on destroying him, but like a coward Abaddon hid. But Sigismund always knew he would return, and has been waiting ever since. ADB said he would move heaven and earth to make the rest of the HH team let that happen. So it is a handful of Black Templar who have been preparing for a fight for centuries holding back the entire Black Crusade until the rest of the Imperium can scramble to meet the threat.

ADB didn't reveal anything more, but like Blaxican said, Sigismund does not die well

well just because he dies in combat doesn't mean he won't die well. him not dying well would involve Abbaddaon killing him as he was delivering the speach

Hmm, I guess if Abaddon has Drach'nyen at this point no, it wouldn't be a pleasant death for the Black Knight.

Makes me feel bad for Dorn. He bites it during the Third Crusade, right? The poor guy's had to recover Sanguinus' corpse, recover the Emperor's corpse, and now apparently will live to see his greatest pupil's death. lol

The IA says

Soon after the disappearance of Corax, Primarch of the Raven Guard, the Imperial Fists were asked to help against a Black Crusade bludgeoning its way through the Cadian Gate. Phalanx and the majority of the Chapter were committed to shadowing the movements of Ulthwe, the Eldar craftworld, and could, not be spared. Rogal Dorn managed to piece together three Companies to join the Cadian campaign, which he led himself. The Black Crusade threatened to envelop Cadia, and the Imperial Navy had failed to see the threat until it was too late. With his infallible sense of timing, Rogal Dorn, with three Strike Cruisers, surprised the heretic anchorage in the Pelenos Belt before they could strike.

So doesn't give an actual record of which one it was, unless it's been mentioned in something like Sentinels of Terra. Maybe it's the same one and he is with Dorn for the final charge?

That might be possible. I checked it out on Lexicanum and there indeed does not seem to be any note on a specific date.

Personally I think he's still alive and keeler's vision was one of the end times.

Because when did dorn need him during the siege of terra?? Other than to take over when they boarded the vengeful spirit, and I don't think it was referring to that.

He's my favourite character and I hope he's still alive because who ever does kill him will have major fluff points. And loyalists don't have any one alive from the HH that isn't a primarch except bjorn :/

Also I want a book during the siege of terra that sigi duels kharn, would be an interesting fight with kharn being buffed by chaos and them being oath brothers

We know for a fact that he survives the heresy. It's at some point after the Scouring that we lose track of him, as the Templars eventually get a new Chapter Master.

Needing Sigismund to control the ground forces whilst Emperor and co were on the Vengeful Spirit is a massive deal. He was also tasked by Dorn to seek out Champions and kill them. I have the WD at home with a short blurb about it. I'll see if I can post it up later.

Also the IA says

Rogal Dorn chose a warrior from amongst the ranks of his Imperial Fists to be the Emperor's Champion, Brother Sigismund, finest of the warriors of Terra, was given the best armour and weapons and swore a holy duty to seek out the Champions of Chaos and slay them. And so he did, counting fully two dozen of the warped creatures in his bloody tally before Horus was defeated and the Traitor Legions lied to the Eye of Terror.

I don't think the loyalists should have any one left alive after 10 thousand years.

Kharn vs Sigismund would be interesting indeed. We know Kharn dies at the siege of Terra atop a mound of corpses, that would be an awesome setting to write about. Sigismund slaying Kharn and adding his to its peak.

Yes I know he did those things but it sounds more important than that. To me it sounds like end times IMO

And a kharn vs sigismund story would be epic seen as though sigi beat him in 7 seconds last time :p

ADB brought this up in a thread over on Bolter & Chainsword where he also discussed his ideas for Sigismund. During a meeting at Black Library he found out that Dorn dies during a Black Crusade, but not one of Abaddon's, and thus presumably not the same one as Sigismund falls in. Dorn dies later, in early M32 I think.

Considering Sigismund and Kharn were good friends during the Great Crusade, Kharn vs Sigismund would be very emotional. Sigismund learned binding his weapons to his wrist from Kharn, and that custom would be adopted by the Black Templars.

I believe his hands are the only part of him not missing, which fuels the hypothesis that he is still alive. The fluff used to be very specific about him dying, but then it got changed to spin the "maybe he's just missing" angle. Personally, I generally like to think all the missing primarchs are super duper dead.

Nobody knows what happened to Dorn. If memory serves me right he went missing during an assault on a Chaos starship during Abaddons early Black Crusades and only his sword and a single bone hand was found. Both were kept in the inner sanctum aboard the Phalanx and the custom of Scrimshaws evovled amongst the IF's.

So Dorn could very well be alive or he could be dead. The Imperial Fists believe their gene-father will return once more to lead his sons against the enemies of humanity.

Exactly so this is why I beilve sigi is still alive to stand by his farthers side during the end times

They really need to make more fluff for sigismund seen as though that audio cd was sub par

Would be funny if Sigismund just disappears during the battle.

But personally It would suck to see them have him die. If they leave it open ended. It would be far more interesting than just killing him off.

ADB has confirmed that Dorn did not die/go missing during one of Abaddon's Black Crusades. He attempted to reserve the event for his Black Legion series and was told that Dorn's death/disappearance was long ago pinned to a different Black Crusade, not Abaddon's.

A good piece of fluff would be that with the dissapearance of his father, Sigismund determines that he must be held prisoner somewhere in the Eye of Terror. Enveloped in grief, he gathers the first company of Black Templars and goes on a mission into the Eye to discover the truth and bring back Terras true champion.

I mean, it would be a good story to read. I just don't want Sigi to end up with a half ass and terrible story.

I feel like death by duel with Abaddon wouldn't be too bad an ending for Sigismund, finally having the duel he's been looking for since the assault on the Imperial Palace.

It's the scenario that doesn't fit. I don't know, something seems weak about it. Sigismund needs more than "well, this guy looks pretty tough, I'll dual him and finally die." There has to be more of a storyline to it. There is no real plot to anything ADB has put forth. It's just a scrapped story they pieced together to eliminate the "what happened to Sigismund" question. Sigismund travels into the Eye to find his father and meets Abaddon standing in his way. They converge in an epic dual and just as Sigismund dies, impaled on Abaddons claw, Rogal Dorn pulls a captain Titus and throws his hand out to reach for his champion. "No, my son!"

Then Abaddon flings Sigis lifeless corpse to the floor and runs like the coward he is.

A story like that. Some emotional meaning behind it....not just some pathetic last minute dual.

No just no. Abbadon has enough fluff points he dosnt need to kill the imperiums best non primarch warrior. Especially because through most of the heresy he was hiding, running away or never leaving Horus's side.

I like the fluff he's gone to find dorn, it means he's still alive and simply stepped down as grand Marshall

Yeah but I think we all know what's gonna happen. It was like watching Heat. Al Pacino is the cop, Robert De Niro is the robber and De Niro gets shot by Pacino in the end. Soooo predictable.

All that's gonna happen is Sigismund meets Abaddon, gives a cute little honor speech before plowing into him and gets gutted. Period. Done.

Well, yeah, I prefer Sigismund go on a grand crusade to rescue his father. Probably not gonna happen though. He gets raped by Abaddon. Watch.
