Matt Ward would like to know why Kaldor Dragio is not topping this list. don't you know he beat a deamon primarch single handed! don't you know he's too tough for the deamons to beat even in the warp? the man is totally badass, so sayth matt ward!

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Ahriman, of course.

Typhus is pretty badass, too.

Mephiston is also quite the pro.

Da Red Gobbo?

Anyways, I'll go with Maugan Ra. There is no greater badass.

Commander Dante is hands down for me the most badass. 1,100 years as Chapter Master of the BA, and probably more time served before hand. I love that he leads from the front and can be found where the battle is thickest and most brutal. I really like that he was never the best, nor the most powerful, but always up to the task to get the job done and come out alive. I love his back story and just think he is a general badass.

Close second for me is Imhotekh the Stormlord.

I agree with this, though 2nd would be Mephiston. And in the fluff Dante is around 1400 years old =)

If you read the warriors of the dark millennium on Dante you get a really good idea of how awesome he is. I wont spoil it, but its one of the best pieces of 40k fluff ive ever read.

Duke Sliscus and his drugged-up Harem. He let's you roll twice on the drug table and pick your favorite of the two. Think of a pimp who calls himself the Duke and has all of his (b)wyches do the fighting.

That was a bit offensive. And is there really any link in the fluff between Sliscus and wyches? From what I read, he is a pirate in exile!

I'm offensive? Have you read what the Dark Eldar do?! they are in the slave trade, slaves of all sorts. They use crazy drugs for sado-masochistic blood orgies and then go and kill whoever they can find just to harvest some more souls so they can do this for years to come.

As far as Sliscus and wyches being connected in the fluff, I am sure he has a few wyches with him, anyone can be a pirate! So he has whoever wants to come along, and whoever has the best drugs, and the best toxins. And Wyches are known for their combat drugs.

Hard to say.

The Deceiver made the other C'tan eat their fellow brotheren.

The Outsider made an entire Tyranid Hivefleet run away in fear.

The Nightbringer is Death incarnate.

I just go with "C'tan" ;D

How is Khârn not here yet? First off, he's a pretty nice guy to be around. Second, one of the Cyrillic languages is his native as per the audiodrama (lol... Khârn is a Cossak.... cant believe I just realized this... ]
Third: there was only one person on terra he really didn't want to fight, and that was his crazy cross-wearing oath-brother from the VIIth. Plus he's awesome on the tabletop. Will shred through most characters 2x his cost. His only "downside" is that he is 3+ 4++.

I already have built one but I love the fluff of Belial and his Deathwing Company. That's quite fun.

Also I have also wanted to make a Catachan character army with Straken, Marbo and Harker.

So, basically, the only reason you think he has a “harem” of “byches” is because drugs? Should I remind you that there are tons of male wyches, by the way?

I doubt many dark eldar care, a hole is a hole after all.

OT, I would have to nominate Trazyn, the infinite. Not only is the guy hard to kill even by necron standards, but hes essentially the grim dark version of a war gamer. But rather than collecting pieces of plastic crack he collects real armies.

Everything I say, barring quotes and researched information, is my personal opinion. Not fact.

Chaplain Cassius. Grizzled old man full of hate. Thinks papa smurf is just some punk kid. Hates the 'nids so much he steps outside the codex to deal with them, and the rest of the Ultramarines are OK with this!

Plus he’s a T6 marine with FNP. Hardcore. Makes for fun “average toughness” scenarios when it’s just him and one other guy left alive in a squad. Or just pair him up with another IC for an awesome buddy comedy.

Field him with some Tyrannic War Vets (use sternguard rules) for a fluffy and fun good time.

Tigurius is pretty great. Can tap into the Tyranid Hive Mind and predict the movements of the Orks, which not even Imotekh can manage.

Sly Marbo is clearly #1, though. Inquisitorial rumors state that he's the Emperor reborn into the shell of a mortal man.

Sigismund by leaps and bounds, his back story is one of the best, the first emperors champion who defeated a dozen champions of chaos during the attack on the imperial palace including Kharn the betrayer, first high marshal of the BT.

His rules are amazing: WS7 BS4 S4 T4 W4 I5 A4 Ld10 Sv2+ 230 pts. Eternal Warrior, Templar Brethren squads as Troops, Instant Death and force re-roll of invulnerable saves in challanges, and Black Sword being +2S and AP2.

I'm going with Vargard Obyron, Never seen him on the table but anyone who can capture Kor'sarro Khan and Illic Nightspear, then when they escape beat both of them and a load of other prisoners at the same time deserves the title of badass.

Lysander? I say Lysander. Guy is over 1000 years old. He disappears into the warp, pops out a thousand years later, gets tortured for about a hundred years, escapes, goes back and kills everyone who tortured him, goes home, becomes the Captain of the First Company, then gets busted to Captain of the Third Company when he nearly gets them all killed because he won't take help from the smurfs and twilights, marches the Third Company all over the galaxy kicking ass and taking names, gets offered Chapter Master and refuses because he is too much of a hot head and knows it, and goes back to Captain of the First Company again.

Actually, after re-reading the OP, look into the Sentinels of Terra and read about Tor Garadon. He was one of the Sergeants in the Third Company when Lysander nearly got them all killed. He was the only one who stood up to the Imperial Fists living legend and basically said "What the hell is wrong with you?" When they busted Lysander down to Captain of the Third Company, they made Garadon Sergeant of the First Tac. Squad, and he ends up being the ying to Lysander's yang. The Murtaugh to Lysander's Riggs. At present, Garadon is Captain of the Third Company, and they are seriously in the you-know-what. When you play him, his Tactical Squad counts as an HQ unit, and he gets a captain statline (and a cool black helmet with a white stripe, instead of a red one.).

The special characters have plot armor and uberbadass special snowflake weapons and armor, and faces the most terrible foes of the galaxy with the skills of a thousand battles and trainers from around the galaxy.

The common guardsman has flak armor and a lasgun, and basic training if they're lucky-- and faces those same foes.
