Kings of War for three years now, don't see it going anywhere

Terminator Genisys has replaced the longing in my heart for an ultra-elegant system when SST died an early death

"...and special thanks to Judgedoug!" - Alessio Cavatore "Now you've gone too far Doug! ... Too far... " - Rick Priestley "I've decided that I'd rather not have you as a member of TMP." - Editor, The Miniatures Page "I'd rather put my testicles through a mangle than spend any time gaming with you." - Richard, TooFatLardies "We need a Doug Craig in every store." - Warlord Games "Thank you for being here, Judge Doug!" - Adam Troke

When I used to play regularly, 40K was my go to game. Now a days I don't play much of anything.

I like Aeronautica Imperialis a lot.

However, I tend to enjoy games I have designed myself the best. I know, I am biased.

Nothing GW since last Summer...

Now it's;
Kings of War or
Bolt Action

I know I made the right decision changing from GW stuff as my wife actually asks me to play KoW or BA - she always had to be coaxed into playing WFB or 40K.

With slightly less wargamey pals, it's Frostgrave or Zombicide.

Currently most played: Silent Death, Mars Code Aurora, Battletech, Warcrow and Infinity.

I enjoy lots

Warmachine/Hordes
Infinity the game
Mordheim
Dropzone Commander
Firestorm Armada
Relic Knights.
Wrath of Kings
Bushido.
Star Wars Xwing
There are a few others I play far less but did enjoy :0

I also do RPGs
Dungeons and dragons 3.5, 4, and 5th
Pathfinder
White wolf systems, basicly all
Shadow run
Iron kingdoms
World of Warcraft P&P

Board games like zombiecide and the world of Warcraft ones also.

I get into so much gaming goodness :0 it's kinda worrying now I list it down.

Bolt-action, any of the warlord games rule sets are pretty good really.
Warhammer (40k and fantasy), even with the wonky rules, I enjoy 40k. Yeah there are some balance problems, yeah some rules are broken, but in a normal game, most people won't abuse those, so you don't bump into them as often. fantasy, I loved, the setting, the models, most of the rules. AoS has some similarities, mainly the models, the change just did a lot of damage for me, having played 7 or 8 games of AoS.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

Drop Zone Commander is probably the best game I've ever played and I really loved a lot of the specialist games "back in the day".

WMH is my favorite atm.
I used to play 40k in tourneys. But no longer. We just play apoc games once per month, 5000 pts per player.
AoS is something I consider. The Fantasy side here was dead. Now players start undusting their armies.

Loving boardgames at the moment but have been playing a lot of Rivet Wars - I love the figures and the play can be quite entertaining.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Necromunda will always be good.

I always enjoy 40k on the occasions I get to play it. It has its issues, but for playing with friends and for spectacle, its hard to top.

KoW is always good, as is LotR for skirmishes.

Another one that's more of a board game is the D&D adventure system games. For when you can't/don't want to set up a full D&D campaign, the pre-generated characters, self-running Dungeons and pared-back rules so simple you could train apes to play, it is great fun for an evening or afternoon of hack'n'slash action, and being co-op for up to five players, it's great for non-gaming family and friends as you're helping them along rather than tying to beat them. It's also easy to change the difficulty, just add more healing surges if it gets to hard.

Currently, Kings of War, Zombicide and Pandemic.

Incredibly fun games I'd play again in a heartbeat if I had a group willing to play them regularly: Blood Bowl, Necromunda, WarZone 1e, Space Hulk

Games I really want to get going that seem like they'll be awesome fun (may have played not at all or a few times): X-Wing, Bolt Action, Incursion

I really enjoy the story-crafting that goes on with an Inquisitor game, so that's my go to when I want something chill without too much intensity.

WarmaHordes for when I want the excitement of real competition and such.

I've gotten into Warmachine pretty hard the last four of five months so that's my go to game right now.

If not that, then I'm always up for some Zombiecide.

Super Dungeon Explore is the best.

Blood Bowl is also the best.

But there are quite a few others that I like.

As subjective as this is, I think Magic and Malifaux are just the best games in their respective categories.

I have been playing a ton of Infinity as my main game. I've been slowly building a Kingdoms of Men army for Kings of War to scratch that mass battle itch.

Thanks all!
The diversity is great.
I am tempted with Zombicide now.
Drop Zone Commander interest is piqued.
I still have all my original release Necromunda stuff so I understand you other guys.
Subjective statements are great, not looking for "the best" just what is the happy place go-to.

Have to add the Batman Miniatures Game to the list. Very fast, very fun, very thematic and loads of depth to it! Great model range too!

A card game called "Hex Hex" is one of my favourites to kill an hour or two. We still enjoy Cranium. Carcassone is a crowd favourite. Lunch Money is good times.

Blood Bowl is great for one-on-one, and the minis for an "army" can be painted in a week, if you try.

Cards against Humanity is fun, but more of a pass-time than a game.

I can't believe that Euchre hasn't come up. I mean, there's no more, "If this bus is gonna crash, I'm gonna be driving!" game.

Low-stakes Poker can be fun, assuming no-one will be upset over losing $5.

If you can find it, Shadowlord was a game I remember from way-back, that I had fun playing.

Oh, and from waaaay back... Nightmare. The video board game. "Yes, my Gatekeeper!"
