Yes, they do! Can't wait to get a game in with these rules. I'm still surprised the rules aren't yet widely available on the Internet. Go into your local GW and ask the store guy about these school league rules and he will be able to show you, as they are available on GW's internal intranet. If your GW is nice, they might even email you the PDF :-)

So I got to give these rules a spin yesterday. Both myself and the opponent agreed it was one of best games of fantasy we have ever played (and we had some very memorable games of 8th too).
We played whatever we wanted, after deployment I had 27 less wounds, marking me as the Underdog with double underdog VPs.
The game was very very close and came down to a single dice roll at the end, my last remaining Outrider had to pass his battleshock test else my oppenent would gain one more VP and I would lose.
The outrider held and we drew 2 vs 2. The game was extremely close despite my lesser side, and most importantly it was incredibly fun.
Our local GW is going to use these rules to host a mini tournament on the store birthday. I still find it interesting that these rules are not yet widely available on the Internet, but if you go into your GW and inquire about the school league rules they will be able to bring up the battleplan on their intranet for you.
Give it a shot! :-)

I'm gonna propose those to my store, maybe with a limit at a prowess of 90 (we don't have ogre players locally).
They are not the most balanced ever rules, but they look fun and in line with AoS mindset.
Would be interesting to see an extension of those rules for 50 models, so you could start deploying some formations.

Too small, at 30 models the game just goes one way or the other too quickly, lacks the tactical breadth you get at around 100 models.
Not going to mention the wounds to models thing.

I like the size of the games. I prefer Azyr 10-20 pt games.
I do not like the take whatever you want approach. In fact I'd say I hate that approach.
I do not like using wounds as some kind of balancing mechanism. It is poor.
You might as well remove any type of chaffe from the game and just accept that the game is about elite heroes battling it out.
And to that if that becomes the standard here, I will be leaving GW games and sticking with my own rules development and play with myself in my garage lol.

I like the underdog idea, I toyed with this for skirmish size battles of 40K as well back in the day but never could figure out how to balance it right. The rules you posted have given me new ideas, thanks for sharing!

This is not intended as a serious tournament balancer, just a quick match ruling. And it works quite well in that department.

These rules really keep to the spirit of what AOS is: a small scale skirmish game. This keeps the games small, fast, semi-balanced, and fun. We have always tried to keep under 60 wounds, which usually means we run around 30 models.

Hi everyone, I was still surprised these rules were not fully available online as it was a GW staff member who originally sent to them, no problem at all, from the GW intranet.
So I emailed GW customer support, asking where on the website I could officially download them. Instead I got an email from Gareth Cosby, the Warhammer World School League event coordinator, who sent me the pack (again).
I guess that adds the final stamp that these are for the Age of Sigmar Warhammer World event only. As the information has been shared with me freely from GW I presume it is okay to pass it on to other Age of Sigmar enthusiasts.
I can tell you these rules are GREAT! Super super fun to play with.

Hello,
I generally don't post anything, but here, I have to say thank you, and I find these rules very interesting.
The games should be naturally balanced via alternated deployment and model / wound count (does this model deserve making my opponent the underdog ?).
It sounds great, I will give it a try.
Did I say thanks already ?

Yes the rules are great fun to play with! So enjoy them
I think we could up the model count and keep everything else in place and still have a good game too. The 30 model count is there to keep the games around 1 hour. I can't see why these rules wouldn't work with 40,50 or 60 models too :-)

After a first talk with my friends, we will change one rule : the army setting.
It is said you must come with it already listed (as for 40K or WHFB) with up to 30 models. It would be much more interesting with the alternated selection / deployment (keeping the 30 models limit), to make the balance even more dynamic (find your way between "will I be able to survive 4 turns with my army ?" and "Is this hero worth giving my opponent the underdog bonus ?").
And I must say it is the alternated army selection that brought me to AoS, because it avoids the Rock-paper-scissors we have in 40K (You don't have PA2 weapons ? too bad versus my terminator amy... No anti-tank ? my 3 Land raiders will have fun.... and so on). So we will keep it

Yes! That is how we have been playing too, and you're right it also adds much more dynamics in the deployment and can lead to surprises when one player cuts off deployment early :-)
Also, I bring more than 15 models to choose from to summon, so I can select the 15 most useful during the game.

I guess it's ok for a School League. Still doesn't fix the basic, glaring issue with AoS, but it's clear by now that GW doesn't want to fix that.

I'm not the most regular gamer, so I haven't played enough games of this to give you are really comprehensive guide. I can say all my games with this have been excellent, and I've always invited my opponents to play as nuts a 30 model army as they want but those damn pesky opponents keep fielding balanced armies against me and we have a great game.

These rules are ok. They fall into the same trap as any non-point based balance attempt. You must play to the meta.
Ex: You may NEVER run Skaven slaves or clan rats in this mode, Stormvermin are just simply better in every way. They are better stats in all areas, but are still worth the same martial prowess.
Additionally, it still allows yourself to buy your way to victory. Regardless of any of the win conditions, someone running an army comprising entirely of greater demons or cannons will simply win against someone running state infantry or goblins.
If someone can tell me how an army of 30 plague claw catapults doesn't win the game on the first turn every time against someone running core goblin infantry under this rule set I'll concede the point and eat my shoe.

If by "every time", do you mean "once"? Because a player like that would have a hard time finding people to play him a second time.
Age of Sigmar, by having no limitations, has no meta because there is nothing outside of the current game to control for. The School League rules adds some limitations, but towards the goal of playing shorter games, not necessarily more balanced ones. It is not meant to be taken seriously as a highly competitive experience with a meta to game.

And if you only have that one person to play you don't get a game either. What a great narrative!
Or you try to play a league (lets not even touch tourney's) and you are paired with that guy. Let me guess, the answer is for the group to ostracize him and force him out of the league?
Ultimately that is what this answer comes down to, isn't it. If you think this person who is playing the game as the rules are written and not breaking them you are advocating forcing them to leave to have fun the way you say is ok via social pressure.
This is not acceptable behavior in any other scenario, why is it here?
*Edit*
Not to mention the fact that if that person doesn't change you're community is now less one person and weaker for it.
Of course you could argue it is good to get rid of That Guy as your community will be better for it but that is not preferable to simply having rules that stop people from doing anything like that in the first place.
Kicking out a TFG who cheats is fine, kicking out a guy who simply plays within the rules but has fun in a way you don't like makes you That Guy.
