Hey fellas!
So I'm interested in a Ynnari army, but I'm a little out of the loop on the fluff. More specifically on why the Dark Eldar are present in it, wasn't the whole Shtick of the Drukhari that they were slowly dying and fed off suffering to delay it? With that in mind, what is the status of the ones run off to fight with The Yncarne? Surely they aren't being allowed to continue their "Tendencies" to sustain themselves, are they slowly dying?

As far as I know they're still the same but these Dark Eldar have the hope that Ynnari will free them from it. The rest either join to hedge their bets or think it's a waste of their time to place faith in gods.

It is interesting how the rise of the cult of Ynead has affected the social fabric of Eldar society by throwing together Craftworlders, Corsairs and Dark Eldar who have been separated for some generations .
I'm reading 'Ghost Warrior' at the moment and it does touch on how the Corsair and Dark Eldar elements of the Ynnari are still viewed with distrust by the craftworlders, and how there are tensions between the Eldar from different origins within the cult itself.

I am impatiently awaiting my copy to arrive. I love the Ynnari storyline and am eager to learn more about it. I hope it's a good book!

To answer the original question, once a Dark Eldar has pledged themselves to Ynead their souls are no longer constantly leeched by Slannesh. Therefore, they don't necessarily need to fill the void in their souls by inflicting pain. Now I'm sure they do still keep keep slaves and playthings around for a bit of fun, and they definitely still use there favourite pain inducing weapons like agonisers and splinter rifles. I can't see Yvraine minding this as she did fully participate in the pleasures of Commorragh while living there herself. I am impatiently awaiting my copy to arrive. I love the Ynnari storyline and am eager to learn more about it. I hope it's a good book!
I've finished it now and I thought it was pretty good, I hope you enjoy it!

Just because they don't need to have their fun, doesn't mean they'd stop having their fun.
Ynnari might have some qualms about them doing nasty things to other Eldar, but why would they care about what they do to non-Eldar?

So, are Dark Eldar explicitedly confirmed to keep their torture slaves around Yvraine, with her don't minding?

I'd say it's cool,so long as they kill those slaves eventually for some Soulbursts.

I've never seen it explicitly confirmed, I'm just extrapolating from Yvraine's past and her personality to come to my own conclusions. Sorry if that was unclear.

I think, since their souls become bound to the new soul consuming god (Ynnead) rather than the old soul leaching god (Slaanesh), they probably don't feel the same need to commit such acts of evil.

They might not have the physical need but they probably like it. And according to the Jain Zar novel the Dark Eldar power their vehicles with terror.

Really? Gosh how stupid, what was Gav Thorpe thinking when he wrote that one!
That's almost as silly as the wolfy wolf men who ride wolves lol.

I liked it it made sense for Dark Eldar. They personally need suffering to sustain themselves so they may as well harness the psychic energy for their vehicles as well. Although an Outcast there is there and they seemed pretty horrified by it.

The temptation will still be there - they may even by psycologically addicted to it.
The Eldar path novels show that Dark Eldar can move away from their normal culture and if they do so (somehow) they don't have to feed Slaanesh to save their souls.
Most prominently is the rather awesome former Kabal Dracon that commands a small pirate ship and is never shown needing to torture anyone. However she is sorely tempted to go back to her old ways when they work with true dark eldar raiders.
