Some more tail for the tooth.
Another little Unimog, this time a fuel tanker.
Spoiler:

Gun tractors and Limbers.
Throughout the Imperium most Imperial forces use towed artillery of some form or other, in the armoured divisons of Klomn, 4x4 tractors are used to tow field guns, heavy las cannons, and small siege mortars.

I have finished another small contingent for my Battle Sisters Of The Hospitallic Order Of Saint Hildegard Von Bingen. My Sisters of Battle.
Having made a start with some commanders and veterans, the Plague War veterans(got a few more coming), I have here gone to the other end of the spectrum.
From veterans and survivors of many battles to Fresh face, raw recruits yet to prove themselves.

There is two kinds of Noviates within the order, those of the hospital arm, and those of the combat arm of the order. Represented here is a typical squad of Sister Noviates of the combat arm of the order.

With the widespread devastation and loss of life in the Plague war, it was established that the best use of untrained and untested troops was in close support of power armoured Battle Sisters. The order became aderse to casuatlies for two reasons, firstly the Plague left a limited population, and secondly, those that died could be quickly infected with the nurglic plague. Power armoured sisters with jump packs were most effectively employed for reconnaissance, screening, and skirmishing particularly when combined with allied horsemen, and this helped to lessen casualties. So instead the Battle Noviates would fight as part of the main body of the force where the full battle sisters would firstly be able to lead and inspire the noviates, and also provide cover for their lighter counterparts. Noviates could additionally be rotated in to garrison lower risk areas, where they could continue their training in a more conducive environment.

In every ten initiates two are picked out, a squad leader, in charge of the unit in combat in the absence of a full sister, and a spiritual leader who fills the role of assistant squad leader. These Noviates receive additional training in regards to their leadership and are groomed to become squad leaders and assistant squad leaders, and then future officer candidates afterwards. It may seem excessive to be propagating sisters as inexperienced as noviates for leadership at a squad level, but this is a relic of the Plague War. It was a structure that allowed for the rapid integration of promising leaders. Additionally, this exstensive extra training means that if heavy casualties are sustained, the Order can bounce back, and that when leaders are killed in combat there is always a sister or two capable and positioned to take up command.

The equipment of the battle noviates reflects their expected role, and the avalibility of equipment. Standard lasguns are commonly available and can provide weight of infantry fire, revolvers are commonly found as they are reasonably common, rugged, reliable. Armour wise they are well equipted with blackened carapace helmets and breastplates, over maile shirts which provide additional protection especially in melee. Mass produced gasmasks are always available and are usually armed with a variety of hand weapons, as whilst close combat is not preferable for these members of the order, it is often seen as inevitable. Handgrenades and molotov cocktails are also extensively used, especially to counter charges. In combat their job is to keep the flanks of the squads of Battle Sisters clear. In the Order promising candidates are fast tracked into full sister squads and are put into power armour as soon as harnesses become available, and are intergrated into combat experienced squads, as this process has proven to greatly improve life expectancy, leading to more battle experienced sisters with a higher level of combat effectiveness.

Guns, bodies, mostly all anvil, gasmasks from Victoria Miniatures, helmets from Wargames Atlantic Halfling Militia. I do really like the kettle helmets.

Some cool additions you got there. Definitly unconventional to see Sisters with gasmasks, but it makes a lot of sense. I also really like the mail Mail shorts. Do you intend on adding some Rhinos to them too?

I was not happy with the head conversion I had already tried, and then was looking at some trench crusade stuff, and realised the asthetic really fits the order's lore fighting a plague of nurgle, especially with those dang cool kettle hats.

Maybe an oppressor conversion would be cool. But I largely imagine the force as rather foot mobile.

It has been a while, not for my lack of work, but merely for lack of posting.
Finished this unit a little while ago. Am halfway through another batch painting.

A team of 12 Combat Engineers.
There is just something about Anvil Industry's regiment builder system that always has me wanting to make specialists.
The unit is an addition to the contingent of Pyroalchi's homebrewed forces, that I have made. As such as ever I hope I do justice to his regiment and it's lore.
So the Regiment makes heavy use of lasers, and specialists are given turquoise turbans. Which in this case would include the entire unit of combat engineers, asside from the purple turbaned officer. This force is depicted in winter desert equipment, with the common soldiery wearing greatcoats, but I wanted to change things up for these more specialised and elite troops, so they have better body armour and wind proof camouflaged smocks.
The leader of the entire engineer force has a power sword in a sheath, and has a las-carbine. Or las-submachinegun... for I have given the men engineering equipment such as entrenching tools, wire cutters, explosives and bangalore torpedoes, the unit likewise has special weapons to fulfill and enable it's role of breaking down barriers. Satchel charges, hardly sophisticated, but perfectly servicable when something needs a whole lot of high explosives hand delivered. A flamer, to clear out structures and fortified positions. And a shotlas, I admit that I am not sure if it is meant to be like a las-shotgun or las-machinegun... I kinda went more for a squad automatic weapon, this would obviously provide weight of firepower, particularly for when the flamer or satchel charge guy has to charge a pillbox and give the heretics a bad day.

Spoiler:

A team of 6 Assault Engineers
A small assault team, for when the regular combat engineers are not quite enough. They are somewhat inspired by Soviet Assault engineers from WW2. The ones with the body armour.
So they have carapace armour, and automatic las-carbines. The commander is a sergeant wearing only a turquoise turban, and wielding a chainsword along with his carbine. The special weapons in the squad include a shotlas, heavy flamer and satchel charges, for much the same purpose of the regular engineers, but with more violence.
I got the giant flame effect on the heavy flamer from the black friday random bits bag. Which was perfect!

Wow, the body armor-turban combination looks really good. I'll have to try something similar. I also love the las-submachine gun (or however one would call it) on the commander on the second pic, as well as the flamer. Anvils flamers are just very stylish I think.

Snowy desert bases are also a cool idea. What did you use for snow?

Glad you like them. I am very happy with how those las-carbines/smgs turned out. I like Anvil Industry, they make a lot of great stuff, and especially so the flamers and effects for them.

The Snow is 'realistic' basing snow from Greenstuff world. I think it is because they put little bits of glittery stuff in it to make it catch the light.

My apologies, but 2 projects that have been languishing around till I got some new batteries for my camera.
Firstly an Infantry support walker.
So I saw the Konflict 47 Grizzly walker and decided I quite like the look of it; the Imperial Guard borrows heavily from WW2 vehicles, and well the dudes who made Warlord games also made 40k.
So behold the A5-9A Rhino infantry support walker.
The project requirements of this heavy walker came from experience gained by legions sent to serve in the Imperium at large. Whilst conventional tactics were completely sufficent for dealing with the local Chaos threats and Ork invasions, it was found by both the Klomn and Karsk militaries that their infantry regiments lacking the mobility of mechanisation were often faced with the threat of large and monsterous creatures which long range fire support could only do so much against, especially in close in environments. Whilst was found that infantry AT weapons were often sufficient it was felt that the best response would be more suitable particularly during counter attacks and infantry assaults..
A medium armoured walker was chosen with a crew if two, requiring an armament suitable to provide the infantry with close supporting fire, carrying out the suppression and destruction of strong points, and also being able to combat enemy armour and equivelents at medium and close range, along with the capability of dismantling fortifications and large imposing creatures.
As such the A5-9A Rhino mounts a taurox battle cannon in the front, this when loaded with Krak shells is a threat to enemy armour and monsterous creatures, and the barrel is not too long to impede movement or with obstacles. Either side this gun is mounted a pair of medium machineguns and above it a 15mm machinegun which has proven to perform well against most heavy infantry and light vehicles, especially when loaded with tungsten cored Armour Piercing Incendiary ammunition.
After initial trials it was found that the pipes on the rear engine space of the vehicle, and the canvas seals at the leg-hip joints should be replaced with a asbestos weave, to make the lower half of the vehicle proof to flame throwers. Much like the interior of many Karskian military vehicles the inside of the cabin received a similar treatment allowing for infantry flamethrower teams to work in close coordination with the A5-9 Rhino to stop the vehicle from becoming overrun.
Spoiler:

And some Vostroyans!
So I decided I wanted a squad of Veteran Vostroyans, they are from Mad Robot Minis, I decided to change the colours up a little because they are my guys. Black kaftan, silver decorations, because black and silver will never look bad, gold/brass armour as they Vostroyans, had to make their hats and elbow cops out of Grilliput. Frontline games had their rubble basing system on special, and I think it is really neat, and put some snow over the top, as Vostroyans are described as urban warfare and cold weather specialists, so here they are at home in snowy heaps of rubble.
Spoiler:
Sergeant and Plasma gunner
Riflemen and grenade launcher
More riflemen
Heavy Bolter team
