Germany.

i played Warhammer 10 years ago and now... im back in hobby (but significantly older)
So if my english is not that well... yea happens

I played Imperial Guard when i was younger. And now i saw the New Guard-Models and i really like them. (except you cant get a standard-infantry squad for KRIEG-Units)

And i am searching for a Space Marine Chapter i want to join. Especially i always likes Rogal Dorn and Knight optics in my own chapter. But now - Lion el Jhonson is there... its a bit strange for me, to see
dark Angels in Knight-Optics and no longer in Monk+Indian influences. So i was looking at Black Templars... But i dont like the 'Black'. (Because Black Color Scheme is often some kind of boring)

so i am unsure which way i could go. Especially, after many things are 'reworked' :/

Hi, welcome, take you're time to catch up with all the new releases and the changes made to the lore. I for one still play like it were 10 years ago and I'm fine

Thanks.
I am more into the Lore-Stuff in general. But also deciding for a faction is a big step, cause i am also emotionally attached to my miniatures xD

Many of us do, you put work into your collection and as you develop a custom lore for them they truly feel like "your creation"!

Welcome to Dakka Dakka! As the others have said take your time, getting back into things after some changes have been made takes some adjustments. I am looking forward to seeing where you land!

Cheers.

Thank you very much.

I just have one more question:
Also a friend is thinking about to 'join Warhammer' in general. Now I am thinking about how to get him a bit involved.

Now I am in front of the decision to maybe go into a 'game itself' like Black Fortress or going Kill-Team for beginning? What would you suggest for beginners at this time?

Go for the normal game onlow point count simply. If you decide to go with current edition, they published a "patrol" variant in the core rules to play smaller games with you needing only the corresponding starter sets "patrols"

Thanks!
Feels like a good advice.

Now I just have to decide which chapter I want to go... still not sure... I think I need to read more Lore about the Lion... so I MAYBE can change from Rogal Dorn to the Dark Angels...

Do not hesitate to get a good glimpse of all factions and subfactions you can. Their are many flavours of not only space marines, but also specialised IG Regiments, différent facettes of chaos incursions, several kind of Eldar army composition... Since you said you are lore oriented, the kind of army you'd like to field can help decide what faction suits you best.

As a custom lore tryhard, the best is always to build your very own regiment/lore/dynasty/craftworld/Kabal/whatever lore though

Yes. I know what you mean.

in my old club I was described as an aggressive player but never came into charm with chaos factions.

Most issue I have, with building my own regiments, is that GW doesn't really support it THAT WELL anymore.

Like I prefer WW1 Style-Units. But DkoK from Forgeworld is far too costly and too brittle. But for an only DkoK Army GW doesn't have enough Units available.

So my 'Plan' actually is like to buy both boxes at some point. I don't know if DkoK Helmets are interchangeable with Cadian ones. But MAYBE I can mix them a bit...

Only good thing is, is that I like the new Cadian models. So even without the DkoK Aspect in it, I would be fine. If I find a color scheme which motivates me

Cost is indeed an issue, as you can find proxies but that's not always too affordable. You should be able to get a lot of feedback on those on dakka. Feel free to ask for SM proxy spare part too. Well, in fact, pretty much anything you need should get an answer here.

So!
I am back here

I don't want to open a new thread so I ask it here.

My decision was to create a small Inquisition Army as a start. (250 to 500 points)

Also I thought it would be easier... how I made a mistake xD

I tried to build up a small 250 to 500 force with inspiration of Darktide. So like: Having a small 'Shock-Troop' - Getting in, doing damage, getting out (if possible). But it seems this isn't possible.

First the Lore Idea behind it:
Always when I start 40k I also start building up a 'System' where I want to place my army. I am not a fan of just 'copy and paste' like into Cadia or Krieg.

So I came up with an Idea with a world and thought like: "Okay my world don't have some kind of Elite-Units like Scions and the Core-World is more like regular into warfare".

The Inquisition was then the perfect way to introduce these 'Elite-Troops' into my world.

But now lets get to my problem:

If I use Astra Militarum I can't use an Inquisitor
If I use Agents of the Imperium I can't use any dedicated transport.

If I want to use Taurox Prime I can't do normal infantry or Kaskryn in it... so here is my problem. So I came up with a compromise as idea:

Imperium - Astra Militarum - Inquisition - Shock Troop - [250pts]

## Army Roster [250pts]

### Character [30pts]
Commissar [30pts]: Plasma Pistol, Power Weapon, Warlord

### Battleline [120pts]
Cadian Shock Troops [60pts]: 1 Shock Trooper Sergeant and 9 Shock Troopers
• 7x Shock Trooper: Close Combat Weapon, Lasgun
• 1x Shock Trooper Sergeant: Laspistol and Chainsword, Chainsword, Laspistol
• 1x Shock Trooper: Close Combat Weapon, Flamer
• 1x Shock Trooper: Close Combat Weapon, Plasma Gun

Cadian Shock Troops [60pts]: 1 Shock Trooper Sergeant and 9 Shock Troopers
• 7x Shock Trooper: Close Combat Weapon, Lasgun
• 1x Shock Trooper Sergeant: Laspistol and Chainsword, Chainsword, Laspistol
• 1x Shock Trooper: Close Combat Weapon, Grenade Launcher
• 1x Shock Trooper: Close Combat Weapon, Plasma Gun

### Infantry [100pts]
Kasrkin [100pts]:
• 1x Kasrkin Sergeant: Chainsword, Hot-shot Laspistol
• 9x Kasrkin Trooper: Close Combat Weapon, Hot-shot Lasgun

But I am not completely 'happy' with this. If I go up to 500 Points I would just Add a Valkyrie for the Kaskryn. Also using the Commissar as Inquisitor-Proxy isn't how I would like to do it. Do you know a better 'startup' with this Idea in mind?

Model Use
Cadian Shock Troopers
I want to use the Imperial Navy-Breacher for them. Replacing their Shotguns with Lasguns.
The reason behind this lies in the Lore of my World. Also I think it should fit more if the Inquisitor has Navy-Units as regular Safety-Guard on her Sloop.
Freeing up the regular Cadian Infantry Models as 'regular Infantry' Units for my Coreworld.

Kaskryn/Stromtrooper
My World lacks the capacity to create stormtrooper like the Kaskryn or Scions. So I thought the Inquisition as Elite-Force on their World would be very good. here I am not sure if I should use Kaskryn or Scions. But it seems the Scions getting pushed out of the line, even when they would fit 'better' into the Imperial Navy Breacher. So I guess I will get Kaskryn.

Commissar
Sadly I can't get a regular Inquisitor here. So I will use the Commissar rules as a proxy. Or maybe using a Castellan for the Rules. Not sure about that either.

You know where I can get good Bits for Rifles? Or should I just get the Cadian-Set from GW? I think there are some rifles but not enough.

I advise you post this either in dakka general discussion or army lists, this would probably belong there.

But really, their's no problem making an inquisition count as/requisitionned IG force. Go wild! Your choices of minis should look good!

You have got rifles available at anvil industry, kromlech, liber deamonica (i think), and a handful of other third party bits companies.

Thanks for the advice.

I think I will go first with a kaskrin squad then. Simply cause I am not sure yet which rifles I should use… or simply going the regular navy breacher so I can paint them…

Mh… damn it
