Many games, especially skirmish ones, require use of various tokens, markers etc. to represent in game conditions like being stunned, on fire etc. or simply having moved. I am curious of what you guys are using to represent such things? Do you always use official ones (if they are available), do you make your own, do you use other stuff? I have recently found that small dice of 12mm, in various colours, are perfect for such a use. For example red ones are used by me to indicate how many wounds a model had lost.

Hi,

GW used to make marker dice, for Charged, Advanced, etc. Lots of other companies throw tokens in their starter sets, with 3rd party alternatives.
Wound dice are very useful, with red D10s which I use for 40k and AoS.

But yeah, I 3D print mine, for Kill Teams and Necromunda.

Not that my custom tokens get used, and once you get the hang of how most games flow, tokens often just clutter up the table.
There was a Dakka-related kickstarter a couple of years ago for custom dice-like tokens, which I'll try to find.

Either I use small Chessex dice as wound counters or I made my own.

The Dollar Stores near me have an arts and craft section and in there they sell Balsa wood tokens of various shapes. I'm my case I picked up the heart shaped ones and painted them red to use as wound counters.

I use other shapes to create tokens and objective markers.

For a while I used drilled skulls on a pole to indicate wounds remaining. More prosaically, different sized and different coloured dice

I've long wanted a generic set of tokens for all the games I play, but its just not practical. Even common conditions like Fire or Poison tend to have different enough applications of how the tokens are used that more and more I rely on the official tokens and call it a day. Developers are at least getting better about providing them.

●For wound tracking I generally use small red Chessex d6.

● for rolling? Any color of d6 except red.

VP: the rest of the cube of red dice. These get added to a coated off to the side of the board as I score VP.

CP: this is just one of the other dice I'd use for rolling set aside by the VP coaster.

●for my more vehicle heavy forces I use round litko dials to track wounds. Litko makes a wide variety of this stuff.
And for my Orks in KT? I noticed that litko makes a dial the same size as the bases my orks use.
So I "Heroclxed" my Orks by mounting them directly on the dials.

Dice and some round shape plastic tokens i don't even know where they came from. Plus the cardboard tiny pin markers for bolt action.

But appart from wounds, for some reason I always managed to keep track of what affected who and in the end rarely needed them.
