I thought I'd set up this thread now that 40K universe games have their own section, separate from the fantasy specialist games...

So share with us your painted Blackstone Fortress models, tales of near-death adventure, comical moments with friends, custom scenery, homebrew expeditions and new characters. Maybe Kill Team games that take place in the fortress...

To kick things off I'm pondering two expeditions...

A new area of the Fortress has been discovered but areas are currently inaccessable due to dense rubble and debris. However, the Rattling twins claim to have seen an Ambot on sale in the market place on Precipice.

With enough archeotech to barter with, return to Precipice and purchase the Ambot. Unfortunately the twins can't quite place where exactly they saw the Ambot, and your party will have to inquire with the locals as to where it is located, and to whom it belongs to. But becareful as a ruthless gang is operating in the market area, and somehow they always get away with starting trouble...

This one is intended for joint games with Necromunda, as it covers market places and even provides a kit. If you have both Necromunda and Blackstone then this could be a fun project for a budding game master. And moving on to the other expedition...

While the traitors are present, they're surprisingly few this time. A trap is expected, but Dahyak seems to think something something else is at work here...

Unfortunately Amallyn agrees and claims to hear the familar sound of metallic scurrying, and the last time she heard it was during battles with Necrons. The quiet of the fortress is broken by distant screams of terror. Screams that are getting closer as Janus and his party of explorers press on...

So I found some fan rules for Necrons( and a load of other cool stuff ) and think Necrons are perfect for BSF. I was lucky enough to have purchased the previous 40K Recruit Edition and have 10 warriors, 3 scarabs and a Royal Warden. But while the Warden is now expensive at £22.50, I think the Warrior kit is still decent at £30, if one can get some discount. The Command Barge kit might be interesting as it contains an onfoot Overlord and two extra necrons, and the Barge itself could be kitbashed into scenery for the board...

Anyway, like I said share your stuff and feel free to chat about BSF.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

So I dusted off my old box and returned to blackstone fortress. It was a very nostalgic experience reading my crumpled up rulebooks and seeing my dusty minitures I painted so many years ago.

My brother, who was never interested in warhammer, who's eyes would glaze over every tine I bring it up, has had lately a craving for board games, like skyrim and marvel united. This gave me the perfect opportunity to introduce him to this dark, mysterious space station, with walls that morph and transform as if it's alive and watching.

I showed him a quick game on a single floor and he liked how the combat works. It fascinated him that as a character takes damage, he has less actions available per turn. He was interested enough to do more expeditions into the dark chambers and corridors of that cursed station.

He chose as his explorers, Gotfrei de Montbard, Raus and Rein, while I took UR-025 and Amallyn Shadowguide. We have a healthy balance of tanks and snipers.

On our second expedition we did our first stronghold. We can feel the difficulty increasing as UR-025 starts accumulating grievous damage. Thankfully he can be repaired. That expedition ended with Gotfrei receiving a grievous wound and we looted a thunderhammer from Obsidius Mallex. But the game gets more intense from there.

This week we did our second stronghold. It got intense after we found a staircase to a hidden basement, as waves after waves of guardsmen stormed our location. We managed to escape with the power core and lots of grievous Wounds, but just barely.

Next week, we don't have enough clues to find the next stronghold, so we will just have to explore more. This will give me a chance to use Neyam Shai Murad and Aradia Madellan, without too much hassle.

We are having a good time and we chear after returning safely after each expedition. I hope, after we finish the Quest for the Hidden Vault, we could finish all the other quests, like the Quest for the Black Shrines and eventually even the Quest to Endure, but man each expedition is an 8 hour commitment. Our backs are sore for days after each expedition. At our current pace, It would probably take another month just to start the Quest for the Ambull's Lair.

Lately I been interested in the solo explorers and retinue characters found in the white dwarf magazine, so I been printing out thier rules on photo paper and painting their models. Sadly there is rules for only one assassin, so I home brewed rules for the rest.
