So... yeah.

I got wind of this sometime ago from an insider, but I think for most people the writing was kind of on the wall, seeing how much the company seemed to be financing a KS with the money from the next one.

They also say they're selling some of the company's IPs for about $12M, but not which ones. Think anything but Zombicide, probably.

And,well... I'm sure the new US tariffs are going to be hunky dory for them too...

the Mothership...

If I had an outstanding pledge for one or more of their half dozen million dollar kickstarters, a tiny seed of doubt would be creeping in despite their decade plus perfect delivery (if occasionally reasonably late) record. Of course, I'm old enough to remember the, for its time, spectacular crash of the previous incarnation via the new wave webstore...

They made it through a Going Concern, and two years of COVID where their losses topped 2024’s.
I’m pretty sure they can make it through this too.
If anyone is so concerned about their money, get a refund and don’t pledge. If they were in that bad of shape, nobody would be getting refunds.

They've been the walking dead for a while. They're up there with Petersen Games for robbing Peter to pay Paul on their pricing.

I have a Massive Darkness pledge, and my wife wanted to order the Adventurers because those are her favourite games.
We decided not to because I really don’t care to have more than one open pledge with CMON due to their financials.

Everyone needs to evaluate their own risks and determine what’s best for them. With 14 open and yet to be delivered projects, I personally feel they’re on unstable ground.

YMMV.

Is that the Massive Darkness campaign that just finished a month or two ago or do they have an older one that is still waiting to fulfill out of curiosity? I only discovered the game a couple months back after picking up some cool figs on ebay that I was previously unaware of.

It’s the one they just did - Dungeons of Shadowreach.
Not even a month later they have the Adventurers on Preorder on GF, with MD in late pledge.
I have it all, and love the style, aesthetic and gameplay, so doing another all in for this one was my thing.
While I don’t think they’re going to crash and burn, I would suspect that some corners are going to be cut if they go another year losing money.

Some more news:

According to this article on GamesRadar (https://www.gamesradar.com/tabletop-gaming/board-game-fans-voice-concerns-as-zombicide-publisher-cmon-fails-to-publish-annual-returns-on-time-due-to-understaffing/), and this article on wargamer.com (https://www.wargamer.com/board-game-firm-cmon-freezes-share-trading), CMON has frozen stock trading, failed to publish their annual report, are reporting a predicted $2,000,000 loss, are having issues with certain shareholders, have had the sale of certain IPs fall through, are having staffing issues with their finance department (understaffed), and still have over a dozen crowdfunding and preorder campaigns unfulfilled.

They also manufacture in China, so they will certainly be affected by the ongoing trade war with the USA.

Another company, Final Frontier Games, shuts down, and has this to say regarding CMON:

https://techraptor.net/tabletop/news/final-frontier-games-shuts-down-amid-financial-struggles

" According to FInal Frontier Games, the order that fell through was with tabletop giant CMON. The update stated that CMON had initially agreed to pay 50% before production then the remainder after the process was complete. Allegedly, this deal was changed to paying the entirety once the games were ready to be picked up.

Final Frontier agreed to this change. But, according to them, the last possible day for payment came and went with no contact from CMON. Despite multiple emails being sent, no one at CMON got back to them regarding payment.

CMON has yet to make an official statement or comment at the time of writing. "

2 million in losses and with multiple kickstarters unfullfilled sounds like they are heading to the wall and going bankrupt as a firm.

...and it looks like the other shoe drops:

According to the article, they have $26.1M in unfulfilled crowdfundings...

They will face an interesting choice. For example see if they can shift funds and IP elsewhere (or simply loot it) to see if that can stay afloat losing bad debts and games with the parent company, stick it out and try to deliver what they can and pray for US changes, use this as the chance to slap extra charges on the games for tariffs - blaming others and using that to recapitalise, or other, similar unpalatable for the consumer options.
