What does this mean for the game? I picked up a fyreslayer warband and the Crypt of Blood starter and even managed to get them painted up due to the small number of models.

I believe it’s getting a big release soon.
Heard the chatter in a GW about that.

I hope they release it in Mordheim.

I hope they don't ditch it. Such a solid rule set. with them separating out all their model ranges to track sales, we do know AOS models will no longer include stats. but that is ok, the warbands are so nice looking they could sustain interest I feel.

My gut feeling is that GW is going to change Warcry to be either

1) Closer to Killteam in functionality. So instead of units of highly varied models we will get regular AoS style infantry units that come with "Warcry" rules.
Much the same as how Killteam is just regular infantry packs for 40K armies.

No different weapons, no different base sizes and such. Just regular troops.

Thus letting it be that skirmish game that is 1-box-purchase that can then scale up to full armies effortlessly.

2) Mordhiem style - possibly splintering connections to the armies in the process or changing how it works in some form so that the warbands can be highly unique but not then have to work in the Wargame. Ergo closer to a necromunda style release

3) No change just rebranding stuff and less focus on the chaos side and more armies getting kits

4) Replacement/removal. Warcry dies and either something else takes its place or nothing does (or its spearhead but one would argue that its priced very differently

I feel Kill Team has become a gateway/springboard game for 40k, that either has "new" added units for 40k or expands already existing units.
A prime example of this is Blood and Zeal, a new unit for Agents that expands the existing unit with the Jakhals
That's the direction I feel WarCry will return with, the oddball units that don't fit into Age of Sigmar will go away
and they will start the same type of units for the game. Originally I felt it was making units for just the game but they never did fit right
when converting over to Age of Sigmar. Like all the units they recently made online only.

one tjhing is certain, if they bring it back at all -- the days of using any model from the AOS range you want, and the staff creating stats for it, are over. Officially, at least.
