I'm working on writing out a battle bible for 3rd edition 40k.
I'm looking for feedback on any errors I may have made, as well as feedback on what you may want to see included.
I already plan on having a summary of the: Rulebook, campaigns, army codex's, what dwarf FAQ's and chapter approved, chapter approved complications, etc, so I plan on included stuff from all the published material for the whole reign of 3rd edition, including the trial assault rules, the new/different transport rules, and the new scenario objective rules, but I will have those along side the original rules as well. I just haven't gotten it all done yet.
EDIT: Updated to what I'm calling version 0.24, https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Hqk2z_kIHgnN-sxfEfVjIEZcYBrfuWBG/view?usp=sharing
EDIT2: I am adding a "base size guide" to the battle bible. So if anyone has any insights as to the base sizes that different units used back in 3rd edition, instead of what is used now, please feel free to contribute that information. I already know most units had 25mm bases, and that vehicles that touched the table had no bases typically, so anything different to this would be helpful.
Like, the size of the flying bases, size of different walkers/dreadnought bases, wraithguard or anything else that is not typical. Like.. 40mm bases? 50mm bases? 60mm bases? or anything else?

My, that's big.
Cool on you to include codices.
I gave it a quick read, what are the blanks pages between main rules and codices for?
|
40k: Necrons/Imperial Guard/ Space marines
Bolt Action: Germany/ USA
Project Z.

As I am still working on this, pretty much every day. I leave blank pages to help me organize where different sections in the document are, blank pages will be removed in the final version, though I do recognize it makes the reading experience kind of worse.
I'm using affinity publisher to make the document, and there's this layout tab with the pages on it, I find it easier to use that to find where I need to go if, say, I stop working on adding a codex, and start working on adding more battle missions, or whatever.

Progress update: I haven't uploaded the update, but I re-formatted the codex's that still had original formatting that I started with, so everything looks better and easier to read, like updating the font size to 12 point instead of the original 10.
I'm working on the first chaos codex now, then I plan on doing tau and necrons, and finishing the missions/scenarios section, then I will probably release a new update of the PDF with those sections.
I also want to include a Base Size guide, if anyone still has miniatures from the time of 3rd edition with unusual base sizes I'd like to hear about it so I can note it down.
Like... what size were eldar jetbikes on? what size were necron destroyers on? what size were necron scarabs on? Land speeders? eldar grav tanks? those sorts of things.

Jetbikes: 28mm hex base (later round base which I think was a little larger), ~40mm high
Eldar skimmers: 60mm clear round base
Landspeeders: same as jetbikes (when metal) or skimmers (in plastic)
Scarabs: 40mm round terminator base
Terminators: 25mm metal excluding grey knights, 40mm plastic
Destroyers and spyders: 60mm clear IIRC
Wraiths: 40mm
Eldar Avatar : 40mm square

iirc the 40mm round base came out with the new metal ork warboss by brian nelson. up until that codex everything was on 40mm sq bases if they needed large bases. So ogryns, dreadnoughts (all kinds), avatars etc. I think the GDs used the large round thin bases from EPIC used for gargants.

The Imperial/Chaos Dreadnoughrs didn't come with bases when they were in metal. Their feet didn't fit on anything GW made at the time. You can see in studio pics from that era that they either went baseless, or had a piece of plasticard or wood made up as a base.
The resculpted Greater Daemons of 3rd ed came on a 50mm square base. They might have also come with the thin round base like Hellebore says, but I kinda doubt it because their feet had metal pegs compatible with the standard thickness "big bases".
I disagree with AT about the plastic Land Speeders. I think those were on 60mm clear bases. They also had a little pivot mechanism so you could angle your Speeder. Oddly I don't think that pivot stand came on any other skimmer.

I needed to be more clear than 'or skimmers (in plastic)'
The old plastic speeders I have are on the same 60mm round base as my old (1st version) falcon. Just peg stands but they were tempests bought during 5th edition and may or may not have come with the same bases as their original release.

They did sort-of fit on the larger of the WHFB square monster bases if you mounted them diagonally with the feet overhanging the edges...

It was packaged with a batch of all of the skimmers very briefly, IIRC, but they wound up removing it because they broke.
Eldar Jetbikes have, over the years, been packaged with the original hex flight bases, the 60mm flat round flight bases, and the 30-ish mm round flight bases. At one point they had both the round styles going at the same time, depending on which box you bought (jetbike/squadron/battleforce).
Similarly, the Monolith came with a 60mm flight base in some boxes, and sometimes just sat on the table.
