Hello everyone!

Me and a few friends are looking to get into WFRP, and I'm not sure which edition to go for - is there one that is seen as normally better than the others? My group started with fifth edition but after some trial switched to Advanced, so any recommendations on an edition similar to that would be deeply appreciated. Thank you

I have played 1st, 2nd and 4th and 4th seems to be the most polished. Every single one is mechanically still a clunky mess, though, so my personal choice would be to go for some simple ruleset (especially one you are familiar with) and only take the setting from WFRP.

That's a shame - would have liked something warhammer-related which is affordable. I'll probably find some other low fantasy rules, thanks

Mechanically Forbidden Lands felt pretty Warhammer-y to me, while having a much better flow and being more conducive to emergent storytelling.

That or just some simple universal system like FATE (and free too).

Deep Frier of Mount Doom

People seem to like them all except for the proprietary custom dice Genesys edition by FFG.

I still play first edition, because it is a clunky gonzo mess. It has a certain charm to it's wonkiness. Like many good settings, the rules are kinda bad, but after 20+ years it sort of just grows on you, like a fungus.
