Personally i think all 3 of those options in my thread title are exciting. Undead vampire pirates with guns. Kislev being ice powered russians. Then we have legacy factions like lizardmen, dark elves, vampire counts and others. Sadly i think skaven won't get the Old World treatment. They're the poster boy evil faction for current AoS but they played such a pivotal role in old Warhammer Fantasy (stopped nagash winning twice, almost wiped out the empire and forced them into civil war, mostly took the city of pillars/karak eight peaks and beat the crap out of different factions in End Times). I don't see how you can just keep them out of Old World.

Of course I want complete, shiny, new rules for my various Legacy factions.

But as is? At least I've already got functional rules for them.

So bring on the Kislev!

Personally I would like to see Dark Elves. At least so far GW has refused to commit to doing anything with them properly in AoS and the army is just sitting there. It was actually surprising to see them move Beastmen over (who had an AoS battletome, new models and all) and leave Dark Elves just kind of sitting there in a corner for 10years. Never getting their own book; never really getting a focus and the one time they did it was an expansion book that "soft" put the army back together. My gut impression though is no one really jumped big time at it because it was only an expansion not a battletome and Daughters of Khaine players kind of don't want the Dark Elf army back if it means basically losing the DoK as they are - they've struck out on their own creative pathway much like how Nighthaunt and Flesheaters split out from Vampires.

So that's one I'd welcome seeing come back - the only thing GW would have to replace is perhaps a few DoK Models and they could always bring back the old metals and then give them fresh models.

After that honestly I wouldn't want to see any more new armies. I'd rather see GW put money into updating current ones with updated models. That powerful nostalgia will wane now that there are new armies with fully new models on the market. Those old Bretonnia Ponies and all those models in metal - those are things customers and GW want to move into modern plastics.

So maybe bring back Dark Elves then go full power on updates for a while. I'd actually consider it a failing if GW went too heavy with new factions and wound up with a bunch of old-time factions that are left in the dust.

I was just thinking the other day that I miss some of the classiqué Dark Elf units like Cold One Riders and that I should have done an army of them when I had the chance, so +1 for Dark Elves.

If Cathay is on the table now, Ind could be cool.

Kislev and Vampirates please. Would gladly buy both. Legacy factions arent coming back and we all need to accept it.

You keep saying that but tomb kings and bretonnia came back after getting squatted as did other things and Old World was released for old Warhammer fantasy battles fans. I'm not saying GW is great and all since they killed whfb in the first place (despite lotr selling nothing for the longest time), the company re-making names for armies like astra militarum for imperial guard or seraphon for lizardmen and other nonsense and much worse their clamping down of all the fan works and fan sites.

Getting back to my point though newer GW though also kinda bad has been releasing some things old GW would've left untouched or squatted. So there is some hope. Until then i'll buy an empire or beastmen army when possible.

I think the fact that GW doesn't support TOW legacy armies in tournament play, but *does* support HH legacy armies and units in tournament play says a lot about what the corporate stance is towards those armies, why they were given legacy status, and what it means for the future. You have to not think about it like a fan and think about it from a business and finance perspective (and no, the argument of "but they'd sell so much stuff if they did this" isn't the type of argument that matters here).

Chaos you really need to let this conversation go. You can't police what people want to talk about and continually popping into these threads to tell people they're talking about ToW wrong is a waste of everyone's time.

As to the op, I'd like all those options provided. I expect they'll be focusing on new factions like tilea et al rather than doing the older ones.

I have always wanted to see a proper wfb plastic army for the chaos dwarfs. They got some great concepts from FW which have been carried over to the pdf list. Would love to see the Cathay treatment for them.

I wonder if we'll see a 'secular' Norse army? Those that weren't part of the chaos tribes.

Would also love to see Norse dwarfs.

I would absolutely love to see Dark Elves back in the mix. They are so far removed from AOS now, I was kind of shocked even back at ToW launch that they were legacied. I thought they would be fully removed from AoS instead.

=> WarhammerCE has almost all of this covered, if you like to play Warhammer Fantasy in the old fashioned way...
Except for Vampire Coast tbh.

Kislev check
Norse check
"Legacy" factions check
Dogs of War check

I encourage you to give it a try in your gaming group, and comment in the Warhammer CE thread here on dakka.

Grand Cathay rules are in the works.

This kind of thread is usually confusing...

Asking for "legacy" models or rules?

Rules are already free for dowload (and there is an expansion made by SquareBased?), and for people who want Dogs of War there is already the Exiles army of just use empire/Cathay.

Models. Skaven, Lizardmen, Ogres... are completely available, just go the GW web under the AoS tab.

The issue is that Legacy faction need to be released with square bases but more the fact they're not in the lore and also not getting arcane journal or are balanced well for the game. Skaven jezzails while amazing right now in Old World are doing the heavy lifting for a mostly shabby legacy faction without special rules, special army lists of infamy or extra gear. It'd just be nice to get full support and a skaven themed dice cube with an artillery die and scatter die in it.
