I'm not even really a marine player, and I would probably buy a plastic Thunderhawk. I love vehicles with high enough transport capacity to transport small armies.

I think the last time I looked, the Hawk could transport 30 Marines? Depending on the build, 30 Marines could be an entire boarding action army. My Drukhari Space Lane Raiders are 33 models. I think the DW army I played last game was 26 Marines?

30 marines, or 15 terminators, 1 dreadnought can take up 5 marine spaces. There's also a thunderhawk transporter that can drop rhinos or a land raider. Might even have another transport variant somewhere too.

I think the thunderhawk is cool, but i've always felt underwhelmed by the rules personally myself. It makes more sense in a narrative style campaign or series of games instead of in one-off games, or perhaps some kind of mission where its transport ability helps you achieve mission objectives.
Its best edition was somewhere around 6th? 7th? The one where it was in the Marine Codex itself and not IA. The current version is just too expensive for a 2,000 point game. A Thunderhawk and 15 terminators is already close to 1500 points, it doesn't have "extra" space for attached characters, and other problems of scale and lack of support.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.
