I'm sharing this new game, which we at Draco Ideas are working on, and which is currently in pre-campaign on Gamefound.
Conquer 5th-century Britannia: lead your people, expand your realm, and prove who is worthy to rule the island.

Follow the Gamefound crowdfunding pre-campaign!
https://gamefound.com/en/projects/draco-ideas/dark-kingdoms

Dark Kingdoms is a strategy and conquest game for 2 to 4 players, set in 5th-century Britain, at the height of the clash between the Celtic peoples and the Germanic invasions.
Each player leads a faction with its own king or leader:
- The Saxons of Cerdic, in the south.
- The Angles of Eomer, in the east.
- Hengist's Jutes in the north.
- Vortigern's Britons, the legitimate rulers in decline.

Build settlements, fortifications, and fleets, recruit troops, and expand your domain. Manage your resources wisely (wood, iron, stone, wheat, and gold) and face your rivals in battles, raids, and sieges.

Game mechanics
To defeat your rivals, you will have to prove that your civilization is the strongest. To do so, you have several ways to earn victory points, and you will use different game mechanics during the games. There is no single path to victory!
- Resource management: produce, manage, and invest to strengthen your faction.
- Strategic construction: fortresses, settlements, and fleets that ensure control of the map.
- Epic combat: battles, sieges, and looting resolved with dice and cards.
- Fame cards: reward feats and grant tactical advantages.
- Competitive and team modes (2 vs. 2): alliances, betrayals, and all-out war.

Follow the Gamefound campaign so you don't miss the launch and learn more about this epic game.

We're improving the design based on the previous prototype and hope to show you more about the game soon.

For now, I'm showing you a 3D still life of what it would look like with the new wooden pieces:

What would you say makes it different from dozens of other area control games on the market? What's its unique shtick?

Good question.
It's a game that doesn't aim for great historical depth, but rather prioritizes fast-paced gameplay and fun.
Setup is also quick, with games lasting less than an hour, allowing for frequent appearances at our gaming table.
Furthermore, it perfectly combines the essence of this type of game: building, thematic events, and combat (in its core sense of battles, looting, conquest, and sieges), etc.
