I was reading over the Field Ordnance Battery

Every model is equipped with: malleus rocket launcher; lasgun; laspistol; battery close combat weapons.

Can the unit fire the rocket launcher and the lasgun in the same round? And must they target the same unit?

Select Targets
Each time a unit shoots, before any attacks are resolved, you must select the enemy units that will be the targets for all of the ranged weapons you wish its models to make attacks with...If a model has more than one ranged weapon, it can shoot all of them at the same target or it can shoot each of them at a different target, but it cannot split attacks from the same weapon across more than one target.

Also note for pistols: models can shoot either all their pistols (like a crazy gunslinger) or all their non-pistols. But not both at the same time.

Details under the pistol type description.

Thanks, I haven't really looked at Infantry (beyond games of WarCry and Kill Team) in a very long time... (outside of trying to kill them).

The rules for targeting and splitting fire frequently change between editions or in updates.

It is always a best practice to check the current rules of the game you are playing.

If you ever want to enjoy the look of surprise on an opponents face?

Stick a unit in a vehicle with a Firing Deck. Then proceed to shoot both the squads pistol & non-pistol ranged weapons.
Most foes will immediately object.
The rules will be checked and.... Suprise!

...because the shooting rules is now under vehicle rules. Right?

The weapons are treated as being shot by the vehicle. So there is some room for shenanigans.

However you are picking one weapon per eligible model. So embarked troops can’t fire all of their guns at once (and explode into space)

Yeah.
You could fire the Sergeant’s nice pistol and the rest of the squad’s main guns, but not two guns per model inside.

An Impulsor makes a good platform for Hellblasters. Let the Impulsor soak up a Hazardous roll or two...
