After getting a few new bases painted up (some rushed and some with a smidge more attention to detail), I got a playtest battle of my rules-light, miniatures-agnostic 10mm skirmish game Rattle and Rend in.
The rules have come a long way, and I'm excited to be close to releasing the Beta rules in early April.
I have spent these past months running playtest games and refining the rules to make the core game easier to run and adding layers that reinforce its narrative elements.
More details on my blog here.
Wait, what's Rattle and Rend?
Designed to be run on a 16x16in / 400x400mm board, I've written these rules really for players like myself - busy grown ups who:
Find skirmish-sized games a good fit for the time they can devote to the hobby
Don't have time or energy for changing metas, crunchy rules, and fiddly bookkeeping
Want something a lot easier to store and transport than big boxes of 28/32mm stuff - thus the 10mm scale
Love heavily narrative games, but want an alternative to highly detailed, multi-step campaign rules
If that might scratch a gaming itch, I'd love to get your feedback! You can get the playtest rules two ways:
Facebook Group: The primary community (and where the Alpha rules can be downloaded, too). Join over 600 other players!
Join the Email List: For those who prefer a direct line, I'm launching an email list for the Beta. Sign up to have the rules sent directly to your inbox when the Beta goes live on April 6th.
