This is a personal dream army for me and a friend to collect together. Normally my friend plays Xenos factions with me. We are thinking about doing a really long Tyrannid/Genestealer Cult Invasion narrative campaign.

We are desperate to assemble together or separately some super heavy vehicles. The Imperial Guard or Astra Militarum have some excellent transports and some brilliant Baneblade super heavies. I like the style of the Catachan Jungle Fighters.

Is there any advice on how to use this army strategically and whether people out there would play against such a traditional combination of tough elite troops like the Catachans and the Ogryns with the most effective tanks for transporting them and supporting them (IMO) in the whole of the Warhammer 40k universe.

Please be aware I am so hyped or my friend is from games of Dawn Of War Remastered.

You have a distinct lack of big guns, apart from the 2 Baneblades which probably won’t last as long as you think.

There’s nothing stopping you taking Cadian or Krieg squads and using Catachan models to represent them. At least then you could take some special weapons which aren’t flamers.

I could see this army working well against a swarm of Tyranids, as long as your opponent takes a like minded list.

Tanks ahem I mean thanks for the tips. I was going to, or should I say me and my friend were just going to run the other tanks over with the Baneblade like in Command And Conquer with the mammoth tanks!

Thanks for min size callout thing too!

Signing out.

That will not work as you envision it. Because this is not a video game.

What will happen is this:
You will move (towards the other tanks)
You will shoot them.
You will charge them.

Then, if you make contact, you'll spend 1 cp for the Tank shock stratagem to allow 1 of your Blades to do up to 6 mortal wounds, figure on doing about 3.
This will not likely kill the target.
Then you'll roll your actual attacks. Wich will also not likely be enough to kill the target.
You might finish the target in your foes fight phase.

But often it's in your next shooting phase that you'll kill the target.

and this all assumes that you don't get bogged down via terrain or various enemy units in the way of you completing your charge.
