I am in the process of building this army

1 Lord with Veil

6 immortals

5 immortals

10 warriors

10 warriors

4 destroyers

4 destroyers

5 destroyers

2 heavy destroyers

2 heavy destroyers

2 tomb spyders

The lord teleports around with the 6 immortals, the tomb spyders make scarabs and take objectives or support the warriors in close combat, heavy destroyers pick on termies, monstrous creatures, or daemon princes. The destroyers and immortals kill almost 11 marines a turn, leaving the HD's to pick on vehicles or make that number closer to 14 dead marines a turn- this is all at at least 24 inches away (obviously the immortals are going to be around 22" inches out). I know lots of people  think this army can't work, but I think it could be competitive- perhaps not taking home any first place finishes, but I think it would be fun to play.

Thats a pretty good army!

I would give you extra kudos for playing a Necron army without the rez orb.  I have never seen one at a tourney.

If you wanted to make it harder, add the rez orb and get a monolith, the monolith is unreal, however its best value may lie in teleporting necrons around and allowing for the reroll of their WBB roll, realize a unit that ports get to roll it twice, meaning 75% of knockouts for one unit, become meaningless in general.

That ability combined with the rez orb is so powerufl that many may criticize your list for not taking them. I actually like your structure, I think it is mobile, atractive, plausible and even a little thematic.  Good luck whatever you chose!

I agree. Any time you go more than 1500pts a Monolith is an automatic. That way you can veil and lith to maximize firepower/wbb rolls. Destroyers IMO are the best units available to a Cron player. You have mobility, range, and higher strenghts shots to force saves ect. With that many destroyers you want the lith to help with wbb rolls also. I have always found Tomb spyders to be innefectual for the points so I would definaltey drop them to help with the points for the lith.

To add the monolith and the res orb, you will loose too many shooting elements- even if I drop both tom spyders, I need another 200 pts- I dont think the monolith can work in this army. Also, the monolith can potentially be a point sink if on the first turn your opponent destroys it (however unlikely). The tomb spyders are going to hopefully make 4-5 scarab swarms, thus giving them some protection, and the ability to sit on objectives on turn 5/6. They still should kill one marine a turn in cc. and again the scarab swarms protect them from being hit. I think for 110 pts, they can easily earn their points back. As far as a res orb goes- more than half my points 32 model, are toughness 5 - not much is instant killed unless Im playing against tau- but I can actually close combat them! If my opponent is killing me in close combat, I obviously havent done a very good job in playing since most of my units are jetbikes. I love the destroyer models but hate the footslogging necrons so I took that in mind when building this army. Thanks for the comments guys.

They should have named heavy destroyers 'heavy victory points' given the number of times they will get to shoot. Killing 4 heavy destroyers is easy for almost any army. Once they are gone, they are gone.

Lose those and get more immortals. Drop the odd destroyer as well, for (you guessed it) more immortals.

If your army consists of all immortals and destroyers you don't really desperately need an orb unless you screw up and get assaulted. But I'd probably consider playing it safe and getting one anyway.
