I have a question regarding the Book of St Lucius.

The Description reads:
"Any friendly unit with a model within 6" may use the bearer's unmidified leadership value for any Morale checks or Pinning tests it is required to take"

The example I have is:

Step 1: A Canoness (a unit on her own) is in one large combat with several other friendly units

Step 2: ...and they lose. All friendly units must make morale tests

Step 3: So... my reading is that the friendly units that have models within 6" test on her unmodified Ld of 10 - and then she herself must test at any penalty that losing the combat has caused (as she is not a friendly unit of herself).

My questions are then:

1. If you are a single model (albeit a "unit" in your own right) then how can you be a friendly model within 6"?

2. Would I be right in assuming that effects of the book also apply to the Canoness? (I'd like to think this but after reading the rule I have doubts - so looking for some views either way)

3. Would the effects of the Book extend to her retinue if she had one?

Cheers

I use a Cannoness with book in my IG army.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that a model can be within "x" inches of itself. Others will tell me I'm wrong if I'm wrong.
