After going back and forth on the issue, I decided to go with the choir for my initial build. Suggestions/comments welcome!

247 -- Walking Tyrant w/ Psychic Scream, Enhanced Senses (BS), Toxin Sacs (STR), Barbed Strangler, Venom Cannon, Tyrant Guard x2

215 -- Flying Tyrant w/ Psychic Scream, Adrenal Glands (I), Adrenal Glands (WS), Implant Attack, Toxin Sacs (STR), Wings, Extended Carapace, Toxic Miasma, Scytal x2

240 -- 12 Genestealers w/ Extended Carapace; Two groups of 6

240 -- 6 Raveners w/ Scytal +Rending Claws; One group of 4, two groups of 1

339 -- 3 Carnifexes w/ Enhanced Senses (BS), Twin linked Devourers x2

195 -- 3 Zoanthropes w/ Psychic Scream, Warp Blast

374 -- 2 Carnifexes w/ Enhanced Senses (BS), Adrenal Glands (WS), Reinforced Chitin, Bonded Exoskeleton, Barbed Strangler, Venom Cannon

So, a Walkrant w/ 2 guard, a Flyrant of CC doom, 12 'Stealers, 6 Raveners, 3 Dakkafexes, 2 Gunfexes w/ +1w/t each, and 3 scream/blast Zoeys. I had an extra ~30 points at the end, so I threw Miasma and Carapace on the Flyrant. So... How's it look?

Replace your BS with a devourer on that walking Tyrant. Strength of the BS isn't high enough to make it worth it.

Looks eerily like my list tbh.

I stopped running my stealers with EC, because it never seems to matter. In groups of 6 they either all die or are too whittled to do anything - so I cut back to one squad of 6 and no carapace, and got 3 x 8 gaunts for the other squad.

One thing you need that gimps you, but is a necessity, in the Choir, is one of the Zoeys to have synapse (I made this easy in my list, I use two old zoeys as my warp blast zoeys and one new one as my synapse/scream zoey).

Reason is, in Escalation you have no synapse. You roll crappy reserves and your carnifexes walk on the board. They are then stuck there, not moving, unless you want to risk them running off the board due to rolling an 11 leadership. Further, the rest of your army must sit perfectly still while you wait for the two Tyrants to show up. Some people will gamble that, but I won't. My luck is too bad not to hedge my bets

Also, your Zoeys are stuck not moving in escalation if none of them has synapse=P I sure thought Living artillery prevented you from requiring Synapse but I cannot find the rule that says so.

Flyrants cannot have extended carapace, btw. Give him warp field instead of psychic scream, and you won't regret it. 4 screams is enough

I can move some stuff around, but I don't want to remove the Scream from the Flyrant if I can help it. He should be able to wipe out all the models in his kill zone on the charge, and a 3+ isn't that bad... Maybe give him acid maw and put another goodie or two on the Walkrant?

No goodies on the walkrant. No need for it. Try to eke out the points for 1x8 spinegaunts I would say. There is a lot of tactical flexibility that comes from a squad of 40 pt fearless guys that your opponent doesn't want to waste a turn shooting at.

Try it with scream on the flying Tyrant but I think you'll find that squads of furious charge guys hitting you becomes scary when you only have a 3+ save. Bolters, gauss guns, heavy bolters, etc, all become dangerous to you. Definitely try it out though.

Basically a 2+ save halves the number of wounds you take vs. bolters, CC marine attacks, etc. The 6+ invulnerable is mega frustrating to powerfists, too, let me tellya .

I had a guy with a 14 man alpha legion squad with furious charge and a 5 attack powerfist charge my Tyrant (because I let him) after shooting him with two meltaguns, and bounce off. I made one of the powerfist saves and all of the 2+ saves I had to make. Tyrant won combat and stealers rescued him next round.

That's correct actually. But sitting there useless is nearly as bad.
