Good-looking Gorbad right there. Wow.
But my one problem with him (my only problem because that is a stellar model) is the same as with all the new Exarchs, Harlequins, and Autarchs: why the hell do you find it necessary to pose on rocks?

Meh. Piggies with elephant tusks, tres ridicule! Gorbad looks good, even if it does look like from the waist down, he is the new plastic orc warboss. Kurt totally rocks. But ghod, I hate those ridiculous boars! Posing on rocks adds interest to the base and helps your important characters stand out on the tabletop, the better to draw fire. Also, all the really good painters have started putting their characters on rocks, and this allows the less inventive and/or less skillful to have the same great-looking bases, without all that tedious creativity business.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

I guess it's just a phase GW is going through. Would you rather they go back to the 'one fist raised in the air and screaming' phase instead?

That is beautiful. Let us start nit-picking! Oh, wait, Jester did already. I think Helborg is riding a pony, not a horse. I think I finally have a worthy torso for my mounted Archaon.

I LOVE IT! Maybe the empire will actually be a cool army to play instead of a whole slew of floufy pantaloon wearing Europea-brits!

Helborg is cool, but I've still got to go with Gorbad for the win. I don't understand why his axe is chained to somewhere behind him (perhaps the back of his bracer?) but it's a sweet model.
Empire Knights have never quite done it for me. That includes this guy. Even if he's the best-looking Empire Knight type guy ever sculpted, there's still something about an armored human on horseback that fails to pique my interest.

It may appear so but upon closer inspection you'll notice that Gorbad's legs are completely different and the boar has different details. Although it is obvious that the base boarstarted as the plastic commander box one.

Awesome Autarch
|
Those are both just awesome, gorbad looks like a killing mcahine and the empire model just captures the fluff of that army perfectly, and both such high quality. I think that has deffinately raised the bar. Would you rather they go back to the 'one fist raised in the air and screaming' phase instead? that is hillarious, i never noticed that untill i read your post, then suddenly about 20 old models with that exact pose came to my mind.

Well, the one fist (or two even) waving in the air with mouth agape screaming is the "Games Workshop Dynamic Pose". Add in foot models having their legs firmly planted apart, knees slightly bent and back straight or slightly bent, and you have the "Games Workshop Dynamic Infantry Pose" (which is anything but dynamic).

I would guess they are finaly jumping on the PP and Rackham bandwagon.

If they won't sell us prepainted minis, at least putting everything on rocks save us from having to make bases. I spent an entire Saturday afternoon just basing five terminators!
