I've been picking away at these guys for a couple weeks at work now, painting before I start and at lunch.  It's been pretty rewarding seeing a whole finished squad after taking such a long break from painting!

I tried to not be as super detail oriented as I usually am when painting, so I let some mistakes go and tried to hurry them along some.

This is my craftworld color scheme, loosely based on Ulthwe and Saim-Hann put together.  Still not sure of the craftworld name or symbol, though.

I still have 2 full squads of these guys to do, as well...  but up next will be a Falcon, I think.

Let me know what you think!

Wow! Fantastic blending for models you say your rushed along :p I love the colour scheme too. My one question is whether you plan on adding some eldar runes on their face.  I suggest a light coloured base to help the black legs stand out.

Thanks for the comment, Drake.
The models aren't really blended much, I just blended the heads for the most part. I tend to paint with transparent glazes of paint and then slightly feather it into the area underneath, not true blending, and it works pretty quick.
I am not sure of adding runes to the faceplate. I may leave these guys blank, and do another squad with the infinity rune on there, in a darker bone color, not the red-purple or black of the color scheme seen here. That way I can easily differentiate the squads if they get jumbled together. I am also going to do different loincloth designs to make them feel a bit more different.
You're right on the base, usually my bases are a light sand color with some small stones and static grass. Nothing too fancy, and they blend well into just about any table top environment.

I like em, quite a bit!
gemstones look great
not to be critical, but will you do the others on the model, or leave them bone?
I'd leave the rune off of the helmet, maybe put it on the loincloth, but that's just my opinion.
I think I'd probably do a shadow crey or something for the base, to contrast the bone.
nothing looks better than 10 WG, all you need is a spiritseer!

Gotta say they look great GrimTeef!

Im getting dragged back into the hobby by some friends and it looks like ill be playing Eldar. Havent painted in probably 5 years but I was halfway decent before and I was wondering roughly the steps you take to make that great bone color. Things like dipping are new to me (although those dont look dipped in any way) so im just curious how things have changed and what products are used nowadays.

Deit - I'm going to be leaving the other gemstones as just design elements on the WG - I think that too many gems starts to detract from the look of them, and all eldar stuff. I think the Eldar must do some of them just as some odd design.
Yeah, I kinda like the blank faces myself, makes them a bit more ethereal and mysterious. Once I find or invent a craftworld rune I like, I'll have to paint it into the cloth.
Good point on the basing. I'll have to experiment a bit...

Lake - The bone color is pretty simple really.

Over a black undercoat, base coat with bronzed flesh or other similar color (I used Ceramcoat Roman Stucco, a bit less vibrant)

Wash the recessed areas and gemstone-oval shapes with snakebite leather. No need to wash the whole piece, just go for the deep areas.

do a semi-transparent glaze of bleached bone on top, leaving the bronzed flesh in the deep recesses.

Do a more opaque bleached bone layer on top of yuor last one, leaving some of the bronzed flesh/bone transition visible.

Edge with an off white color, like white with a little bleached bone or even desert yellow. Just make sure it's not bright white. Also do a semi-transparent layer of the off white on the raised areas of the bone as a final highlight.

Perhaps if Migsula pokes his head in here he can give you some really good pointers on painting and what has changed! I'll throw in one thing though:

Get some Future Floor Wax. Mix that with 50% water, and use that for all your washes. Works FAR better than just using water. Works pretty well with just regular paint and not using inks at all.

And thanks!

I just noticed something I'm not too keen on... I really don't like the pipes leading to the weapon being the same colour wraithbone. They just kind of blend in too much. I'd make them dark brown with some lighter brown highlights along the ribbings. Know what I mean? I see why you didn't make them black given the thigh colour of the models, but the wraithbone colour is too similar to the actual gun.

As far as the runes I like your idea. Although it might seem odd to have half your wraithguard with blank faces and half with runes. Maybe change the colour splits of their talberds? I like the idea of changing the talberd split anyway since I find that the upper half being black blends in too much with the black upper thighs.

Oh, one more thing for all you wraithguard fans.  Here's a painting tutorial for how to make some super complex ones:

those look very nice as well
completely different ratios, but those are the 3 main colours I use on my eldar army
with Scaly green (not vallejo emerald) as the main
a darkened codex grey as the secondary
and purple as my offset colour (and then orange spirit stones to completely contrast)
